Sorry he is struggling but isn't much of a skater.
What is the main issue with LeCavalier? Too old or too undisciplined on playing a 200 foot game?
Good luck in playoffs. - Leafsandbolts
Vinny has lost a step and unless he can play with 2 wingers who perfectly complement him, he's pretty much useless.
Thanks for the well wishes, but we likely won't be joining you in the postseason. Good luck. |

Speaking about Raffl, what about Read? He has less than 10 goals this season. Is he worth the pay raise that he received? I don't know if he took the season off or is blaming the "mystery" injury that he had earlier on. If you noticed, he picked up his play once the trade deadline starting coming up. I like his D play most nights, but his offense has taken a step back. I was hoping for maybe the 20 goal mark, but now I just hope that he breaks the into the double digits.
And, Coots has the same problem as Schenn does at hitting the barn door. However, I think he's just trying too hard, because of the pressure from Berube. - OrangeAndBlack1
Read is absolutely having a bad year and perhaps part of that was the high ankle sprain but the guy had 3 good yrs previously so I am more apt to go by the 3 yrs than this current one. |

Still can't believe NSH didn't QO him and he was left hanging out there for months... sometimes you wonder if the people calling the shots around the league have a (frank)ing clue at all. It often seems like just a lot of group think.
- Tomahawk
Or it was the players fault and he has to accept responsibility for the situation. Do you really think if he played at this level in NY, they would have traded him, or that Nashville would have just given him away. Sometimes a player loses his way, and his game, only to recapture it later.

Players needing to play with the right mix isn't unusual in the NHL, even for players in their prime. Lecavalier belongs in the Flyers lineup over Rinaldo. I still think he has some value to a team. Also think the odds are stacked against the Flyers making the playoffs, but their not out of it yet. |

its why I really like throwing a Flyers on someone, no pun intended, when they are down and out. If it doesn't work out then you just wasted some money. But when you hit on someone like Schultz and MDZ its great. |

There is simply no reason to pay Del Zotto that much next season. - MJL
if they want to sign him to a multiple year deal that will include some years where he would be an UFA, they will have to pay more for those years
figuring out the dollars and number of years with him could be very tricky |

I wouldn't be surprised if it had more to do with his personality. He had 1 bad year on the ice. I think Nashville knew he wasn't going to develop with them because he clearly didn't want to be there. - PhillySportsGuy
They were deep as hell on D, too. Perfect storm for the Flyers to get him. I'm not complaining.

Pretty much. Jerk him around, corner him into a 1-year cheap deal, and he's liable to walk the following summer. |

I'd be talking to him about a longer term, but also suggest a 1 year bridge for decent cash as a good will gesture, if talks were difficult. |

I have such mixed feelings. I wanted to see him go out as a Flyer but at the same time I want to see him get a cup. and of course him winning a cup means two 2nd yound picks for a guy who is retiring after the next 20 games. |

I think a lot of defenseman thrive when they receive more minutes. MDZ seems to fit that category. He wasn't going to get big minutes with the Rangers or Preds.
It's been one of my issues with Berube in regards to his defensive rotations. It's difficult to play loose when you're one bad stretch away from a 10 game benching. |

do you think he would go for a 2 or 3 yr bridge deal?
to me that would be ideal, kind of give them some time for the D prospects to develop

Luke has shown he plays better at times with more minutes
but he also has consistently made bad costly turnovers
I think that he is what he is at this point |

I would prefer a nice 3 year deal like the one mentioned earlier. It gives MDZ some financial stability and it gives the Flyers some flexibility. If he goes bust, it's not the killer contract like Amac's. If he continues to play at this level, It's a very team friendly deal. |

I agree with Tomahawk on the term, 3 years is about as far as I want to go. The cost them becomes the question. If MDZ is pushing for a Mason sized deal, I'd like to see them work out a 1 year deal at $2.5mm-$3mm and then continue talks through the season.
