Any chance we use picks to get into top 2 in draft... I know its a long shot, but just feeling great this morning....In Hexy I trust
- nonpoint22

It would be amazing and unlikely. Teams that get those picks will want massive, massive returns.

Just saw that one myself.

I bet Blutarski would've left him alone.

Moment of weakness.

If I didn't use mine as an alarm, I would leave it in another room.
If it buzzes at me that there is an email, I almost always have to look at it.
Then no sleep.

If they retain 50%, the cap hit is 2.25 mil for 3 seasons

If they buy him out this June, its 2.8 mil for 3 seasons followed by 800k for 3 more.

The trade would be preferable

- BiggE

They can't retain the maximum 50% on Vinny because salary and cap hit have to be retained at the same rate as as of July 2nd there will only be $8.5 million in salary left on his contract. The combined cap hit for the last three seasons is $13.5 million so the most they could retain is half of 8.5/13.5 = 31.48%.

So they could retain a maximum of $1.417 million.

The odd thing is, I rarely have to get up at night to shake the dew off the lily. When I finally get to sleep, I usually sleep straight through the night.

Hexy has been saying that this is his plan all along. Get picks for vets.. If he makes a couple more deals for more picks/youth, then he's going to have all kinds of options come the draft..He could put the two picks together, move up and try to get a LW that can step into the lineup soon.. he could package them for someone who projects to be a 1 or 2 dman.. lots of options.

Is this Hexy only move today or can he get more money off the backline?

If our pick was a top 6 pick then maybe. It would take too much else to get that deal done.

Wow...that's quite the haul for Coburn.

Where's TrollReal to explain how badly Coburn sucks? I think we're going to regret him staying in the East.

I read on twitter from Incarcerated Bob that Streit was made available.

My guess is that he does something else. I thought he was going to try and make a move or two, but expected more at the draft. But when he saw the prices and had interest.

Lots of good factors to this trade. Like getting a first round pick, they gain cap space, and I like Gudas as a 3rd pair low cost defenseman. I'm just not going to ignore the big loss of Coburn and that now this defense has to be rebuilt to a higher degree. Have to see what further moves are made.
- MJL

So we gained 3.5 mil in cap space?

I cant also help but think there could be another move where we see that pick and a roster player going for a bigger return.

Gudas could spell the end of Grossman or LSchenn for sure. Man, Gudas and Morin the same lineup? Yikes.

Hoping for some minor moves to end the day. Carlo Emery Rinaldo for whatever late picks you can get.

Coburn is $4.5mm, Gudas I have seen at $991K(Hockeybuzz) and $1.4mm(one of the reporters who posted the story to his paper's site in Tampa)

Loving the return for Coburn. As much as he was badmouthed on here, he was a decent defender for a stretch with the flyers, especially after Pronger went down and our defense went down the tubes fast. Still cant believe we traded Alexi Zhitnik for him. Zhitnik.

If they trade Streit as well it would have to be for an overpay.. I don't think Hexy wants to leave the D without anything for next year.. also the young guys arent' ready.

They gave Streit an A for a reason. I think he's gonna help the kids out a ton.

I just can't get to sleep. If I could go to bed at 11 and immediately pass out, it'd be heaven. As it is, I toss and turn until 1 or 2 am, then sleep like a log until 7

Grossman or Schenn to a Western conference team. I think one of them goes.
I would take a 3rd. Just want the cash off the books

I think Grossmann has a concussion.. Can't see him being dealt today.
