Wait, what if you trade Vinny and Coburn and retain a large amount of Coburn's salary to a team that can afford to buyout Vinny? Hexy, you genius.
- hereticpride
Sounds amazing, but Coburn has to get you a tangible return, doesn't he?

$6.25mm in cap space next season & 4.5mm in each successive season on Vinny. |

Flyers would be wiped clean In 2 years. But the other team still has a substantial cap hit on vinnys buyout Without a signed coburn, or a signed coburn and them taking on allhis salary |

One thing is for sure, if Hextall is trying to make teams take Vinny in the deal it must mean there is some really heavy interest in Coburn. |
|
|
|
If they can trade VL that would be great. However, it'll be easier next year after the signing bonus. |

IMO i don't think Vinny or the team want him back at all next season probably obvious i know..... guessing Hexy is doing everything possible to accommodate that. |

6-5, 220, skates well, turned 30 two days ago, proven Top 4 defender who can eat minutes

I still have a feeling Tampa is gunning hard for him. The amount of Flames scouts at last nights game makes you think they must be in on him too. |

Id hate to buy him out though or lose multiple picks. I'm going to trust hextall at this point. |

They say the night before the deadline is like Christmas Eve so I guess it makes sense to include a wandering Sheppard and a lump of Cole. - ob18
They're calling Cole a "bruiser" here in Detroit, which is incorrect.
With this said, they are looking for offensive defenseman or a two way over here. The run a pretty good system in terms of development, their cuberts are full and they can't graduate everyone. I'd pick the wings pocket. |

Would be interesting to see what any of those teams would offer....Getting a team to take on Vinny say all of his salary is worth it alone. Would be nice to get a decent prospect or roster player out of it though. |

Cap hit will be 4.5 but he only makes 4.5mill next season and then 3 mill for the remainder |

That would be an interesting dynamic if Vinny went with him, because Tampa would essentially be paying him twice.... |

I think there are teams who are looking at the prices being paid and wondering what they hell they're going to do to acquire a missing piece
I get it: Nobody wants to give up firsts and prospects without a guarantee of a deep run
But if I'm Tampa, I have to understand something:
Yeah, maybe you can beat McDonagh-Girardi, Staal-Yandle and Klein-Boyle, with Lundqvist in net
But it's gonna be harder to do that when all you're bringing to the fight is Hedman, Stralman and Garrison, with Matt Carle banged up
Mark Barberio, Radko Gudas and Andrej Sustr aren't bad players, and Ben Bishop is in the top half of goaltenders, as well. But at some point, you gotta acknowledge when you're bringing a knife to a gun fight, and you need to pay for what you don't have |

I wonder if the mercy buyouts are still around, if Tampa has one and could you buy-out the same player twice,

Amnesty buyouts are no longer in place, even if you didn't use them. They expired last offseason |

Even if they were I think Tampa has zero interest in Vinny, regardless of what player you tie him to. |

It almost has to be Calgary that they would try to bundle Coburn and Vinny to. They are almost the only team out there with that kind of cap space to burn who might be willing to use it on a straight buyout |

DET sending two prospects and a second for Cole and a third. - ob18
Janmark and Backman... two really good prospects... for Erik Freakin' Cole... if I were a Wings fan, I'd be pissed. |
