On the other hand, you could call it poor management. There's evidence that Stralman is playing at the same level as Yandle this year. You could argue that they just gave up top assets for an equally good defenseman. - JAKEw1234
Pretty sure Boyle makes more than Stralman this year and Stralman has completely outplayed him in every phase of the game. |

I disagree with comparing Stralman to Yandle, mainly because Stralman, while good, is a third-pairing player on a good team
There's a reason why Tampa's looking for a defenseman
Yandle drives play. He's a better player than Stralman, I feel - AllInForFlyers
Stralman plays over 22 minutes per game and leads their defenseman in scoring. His possession numbers are great as well. |

If they end up paying Yandle 7 mil, they'll be paying a bit more than 37 mil on what will probably be around a 75 mil cap.
EDIT: that'll leave an average of about 3 mil for each of 12 forwards.
EDITEDIT: once you count Nash and Brassard, that's about 2.5 mil for each of 10 forwards. - JAKEw1234
That's why I think they have more irons in the fire, maybe they are using Yandle to replace someone going out?
I hope Stepan squeezes them. |

Has the nameplate on Grossmans jersey recovered from being hit? I sure hope this doesn't effect him being moved tomorrow - PLindbergh31
i still don't understand how that made him not be able to skate off on his own. maybe it went through his spained and sprained his mcl. |

I'd hope so; Boyle's 40 years old
But Boyle was only meant to be a stopgap defender with a RH shot, not a solution
Boyle's only signed for two years
Let's see what Stralman looks like in Year 5

The $8.5 mill to King Hank will hurt paying a few forwards, the one year deals he gave to Zucc, & Stepan are already backfiring. |

You realize that is only because Hedman was hurt? Yandle's doing the same thing...on a worse team

He probably is, and he eats more minutes, but here are their hero charts for this year:
YANDLE:
STRALMAN:
this is usage adjusted.
So Stralman has been the much better chance suppressor, while Yandle has considerably more points/60. Considering the rest of the rangers D, I'd say they don't need a defenseman to eat a lot of minutes, but rather a defenseman who performs beyond his usage. Someone who performs like a top pairing guy in the 17-18 mins he does get. That's Stralman this year. They just gave top assets for a Stralman replacement. |

Yep. I don't think Stralman holds up -- we'll see, but I don't think he's that kind of player for long

I'm not saying Stralman is better than Yandle. I would much rather have Stralman, 2016 1st and Duclair than Boyle and Yandle though |

Good lord.
Luke Schenn was brutal last night. That feeble backhand turnover was a joke.
Only negative that and the Grossman injury. Flyers played a solid game last night. Mason was great. MDZ played a hell of a game. |
