If anything Nolan should shut up and not question the roster in public. But Nolan never does anything wrong and Murray is a joke.
- SabresFaninIndiana

There's a reason that Nolan only had 1 coaching stint in the NHL after the Sabres let him go the first time.

Agreed. I like what I've seen of him, though it has been somewhat limited. Working the day shift really cuts into the time I have to watch the west coast games. Sitting at a desk tired all day from not going to bed til late doesn't work out so well.

Between Ramo, Greiss, and Duby, 1 will get the job done with Neuvirth (I think he is coming back this summer)

All of those phrases suggest that he's going to continue to get better not that he's already hit his ceiling. I think he's already improved a bunch even since Development camp. He was looking to make the big hit then instead of worrying about his defensive responsibilities. He's not doing that anywhere near as frequently now.
- HonkFortheGoose

You would know better than me on how he has progressed, because from what I can tell you go to a lot of games, both NHL and AHL, and you watch a lot of games. I was working 3rd shift most of the past several months so I have only watched a handful of games this year.

Like I said, its just the way I interpreted it. Right now he's a #4 on the worst team in the league. Its been a flaky situation as to why he is on the big club but at the same time, his size has allowed him to look like he fits in (6'5"; 220). He showed up overweight in training camp, took a long vacation and likes to sleep in. I hate to say "Lazy Russian" but that's a term I have heard a lot in my life about Russian hockey players. Seems more of an off-ice issue but an issue none-the-less.

I just can't wait for this season to be over. My friend dragged me out of the game on Thursday because they were winning. No joke. He was yelling at me like it was my fault they're going to lose out on McDavid or Eichel. I told him to settle down and that there's plenty of time left. He thinks Arizona and Edmonton aren't going to win any more games all season.

The plane thing wasn't entirely his fault. It's a rookie mistake. He's not the first guy to do something like that and he probably won't be the last. He's learning his way when it comes to stuff like that.

As far as the sleeping in thing, he's 19 years old. I'm probably one of the most responsible people I know and I managed to oversleep a few times when I was that young. It happens. My guess would be it wasn't intentional.

I can't believe people are speculating on the negative worth of Zads. The guy has had to learn a hard position in the NHL as a 19 year old and has suffered some lumps along the way. So what? The positives and his gigantic ceiling far outweigh his alarm clock issue.

The Rags should have locked up Zuccarello a while ago. He kind of reminds me of Barnes. That said, someone will overpay for him this summer.

I have said I would like Zucc in the Blue/Gold this summer! Could happen earlier:
(Nice 3rd liner)

@TheFourthPeriod: As @KatieStrangESPN reports, contract talks not going well bw Rangers/Zuccarello. NYR been entertaining trade offers for him for a good week

@KatieStrangESPN: As it currently stands, looks more likely that Rangers F Mats Zuccarello will be traded than re-signed. Teams have been told he's available

still had a descent roster w/o crosby though

- homiedclown

To put up Crisby-like numbers (a full 82 games and he might have put up better), when the entire hockey world considers 87 to be the best player in the virild, not to mention 50g in today's NHL is still no small feat. Take Malkin out as well as Sid the Kid and no one puts up more than 60 points and they miss the playoff completely, if not finish 8th and have a first round exit.

That was by far PGH's best roster in the past 5 years but Malkin was Jagr-esque that year and everyone always did the same with him when Mario was around. Then Mario wasn't around and Jagr looked arguably better than before. Christ he even put up a 100p season on the Rags.

Saying he is a piece that could land you Malkin isn't speculating his "negative" worth, now is it?

In fact I'd say its the opposite and I'd rather not bank on his potential at this point.

I wasn't referring to your posts in particular. I've just seen a lot of female dogging about him. He and Risto have the makings of a top pairing defense for the next decade plus. I like Malkin just fine but I don't make the trade to give up our best D and forward prospects. Also, keep in mind that while Malkin surely has several good years left there is a reason that these teams win when their stars are younger.

- SabresFaninIndiana

Why should he when he is being force fed hamburger helper when there is a grade A steak available to eat as well?
I am so glad Ted is making it public and showing the league what a douchebag Murray is.
It's my opinion is all.
But I am sure the league and many other GM's and Owners know what is taking place here, and not much of it at all falls in the lap of Ted Nolan.
Meszaros
Strachan
Gorges
Benoit, are 4 of your 6 starting dmen.
That just about says it all.

He had to know that he would have no say in roster decisions. This is the same kind of stuff that got him in trouble with Mucks the first time around.

Benoit was a starting Dman for a playoff team last year.
Gorges was a starting Dman for a playoff team last year.
Meszaros was a starting Dman for a playoff team last year.

But, I know. Facts have no place here.

I like Teddy at times, but this is the sh!t he does all the time with the higher ups in the organization. It's a lack of respect for your GM & owner. It always bites him in the ass!

*Also didn't like Lindy calling out his goalie last night in his post game presser! Wrong, stays in the room. Lindy did that sh!t here also.

Fair enough but if you do it right, you also need vets surrounded with youth (Detroit model) and we have plenty of youth and I'm sorry but Moulson and Gionta are utter trite. Malkin is a legit superstar, a #1 center on any other team and if we seriously think Playoffs can happen as soon as next year, Malkin would ensure it. All this Kessel talk and I've been saying for at least a few years now (not on the boards here but to anyone willing to listen lol) that Malkin can be had.

Buffalo hasn't had his caliber of player since LaFontaine/Mogilny(/Afinogenov lolz).

No doubt about that. I think behind the scenes they all know this is ending the day after the season and I think Nolan running Nevy out every game is his final fark you to the organization.

Not only that, but why not just shut up and take your lumps now for the chance to coach a generational talent next year? If he's trying to get fired, he's doing a damn good job of it.
