Tough to find a better example of both teams winning a trade. We didn't fleece Columbus. Clarkson is an NHL player and they were paying for nothing anyway. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him make decent contribution. He still won't be worth the contract, but even still both teams come out ahead. - Aetherial
Agreed... But who cares about the other team, the leafs rid themselves of a boat anchor.
Horton, who is perma-hurt. Signed for the same length, 500k more. What is the idea behind this deal? Is he hurt hurt as in, maybe they are gambling it's a career ender? - weirdoh

Yup. It's something out of nothing for Columbus. They don't care about cap space …they care about $$ and getting something in return. They win too.
when hes on his game he fits right into CBJ style of play - PinkSock
Toronto plays the same style I thought. Hopefully a change of scenery to a place where the fans and media don't have unrealistic expectations will be good for him. Columbus certainly could use a boost. Their forwards are awful, led by $6 plus million a season for Dubinsky.

called Cap circumvention bros, embrace it and love it, unless you care that MSLE is gonna be down like 25 Mill...but its a nice cap play for sure, id be surprised there isnt some sort of investigation - PinkSock
I cannot think of any possible reason to investigate. This is all above board. The rules are the rules.

Horton, who signed a seven-year, $37.1 million free-agent contract with the Blue Jackets in the summer of 2013, has been diagnosed with “degeneration” of the entire lumbar region of his spine, or the lower back, sources told The Dispatch.
