We look like we are missing a big tough winger, one that can chip in 20-30 goals a year, fight, stick up for the water bottles and is from Toronto.

I was wondering how and why Toronto is so awful this season. Then I looked at their defensemen and goaltending... I'm not wondering anymore lol. I thought the Flyers defense was bad. Toronto might have the worst in hockey.

I think our goaltending is more a product of how bad our defence is.

Heck of a cap move by Nonis. Reminds me of when the Jays traded Vernon Wells, who many thought was the most unmovable contract in all of baseball. Horton will probably never play again, be put on long-term IR allowing the Leafs to use the cap space that would regularly be going towards Horton, while he still gets paid what he's owed. Columbus aren't as rich as the Leafs as a team and they can't afford to pay Horton to not play, so in their eyes they'd rather have a guy like Clarkson and actually get some production for the money. Leafs just want the cap space and flexibility.


I'm wondering now with the freed up cap space if the Leafs look to move one of their other bigger contracts for a similar contract + Picks/Prospects.

Goaltending isn't a problem

I could see one of Bozak or Lupul being moved next...perhaps both. Polak I could see being moved also before or at the deadline. Other big contracts will have to wait until the draft I think.

Well it's definitely not a strength. That's awesome Clarkson got moved. I hope he returns to form in Columbus.

In my world - yes. I don't think today's trade will be a plus or a minus for Nonis - the damage was already done.

Last season; absolutely. This season, they've been solid. Del Zotto and Schultz have been great additions. With Timonen coming back Saturday, their defense isn't so bad. I'd say they're middle of the pack right now.
