How long ago... its very different now.... more scholarships in Canada than the past... and players getting paid for doing "camps"

The AUS teams are very strong..... would beat almost all CHL teams...

I played junior about 14 (jesus) years ago...when I played I got a bit of cash...

Sure

Only thing the CIS is missing is the 'Star player' today. Its where guys go after their junior career who cant make it... I know lots of guys who played both leagues and while you'll get the flashy stars out of the CHL, the overall hockey is better in the CIS...

Men vs. Boys.

I would like to see some CIS teams playing US college teams on a NHL sized rink. I believe, based on some very old first hand impressions - and some very recent ones - that the CIS teams would do quite nicely.

Particularly if the games were not attended by 3000 screaming drunk college nut-jobs who might just have a slight influence on the officiating.

NHL rink. Decent officials with no vested interest. No player names on jerseys.

Easily.

Guys who are 22-26... been through the CHL, or pro leagues...

gonna let some 16-19 year olds walk over them?

right

- robin_steele264

Yup. The CIS All Star team gets beat by the WJC team each year when they play exhibition games...a Mem Cup team is comprised of 3 21 yr olds, bunch of 19-20 yr old prospects and some hot shot rookies.

I still say overall league CHL better..but the stacked teams like alberta, sure theyd win.

Although I dont know if any CIS team is beating the london team from 05 ...that team was gross

what about the HMV christmas album?
- PinkSock

I'm dealing with singles... the last one he sent to radio was "This is The Time of Year" last fall. That must be from the Christmas album. I don't think it got much airplay.

It would be great...

They'd never do a Mem Cup vs. CIS champ though for fear of embarrassment.

Wow we can debate anything in this thread...
I played in both CIS and Major Jr. Late 90's in jr, early 00's CIS...my paycheque is on the Mem Cup champ every time...those teams are grizzled machines...

First of all it is a OUA, AUS, or CANWEST all star team..... so you are picking from 9-15 teams

And you have 21 players picked from how many CHL teams????

Yeah he's done well for what he had. I think the Winnik deal works good. I'd argue it would have been better to get 2015 2nd round pick but meh.

Time to see what else he can do though! With the likes of Lupul or Bozak. Man jagr for 2 picks?! Lupul could have gotten that. I'd take those picks in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately we'll never see the game

I hit the odd CIS game every year, as well as junior.

CIS is crisper, better hockey. The guys play smarter.

that's likely to be true of the MemChamp almost every year... that team will likely have 4 or 5 NHL 1st rounders and maybe a real top end talent or two....

but take a team who finishes top 4 in OHL, WHL (not Q because they're wussies) against a CIS team...

I think the CIS team does fine.

How bad must TJ Brennan be defensively if he can't get a job in the NHL with his obvious offensive talent?

Must be soft as butter..

Im still with u. Again the CHL is so much better than jr B. And the CIS was good no doubt...but its just not to a level (both on seriousness/dedication etc) that the CHL is.

Maybe its different from when I played...now its all panzis and no initiation etc...a real shame
