Financially, not a chance. Arizona would still receive revenue sharing even WITH McDavid, so it's moot.

But having a legitimate NHL superstar in Toronto would boost league revenues to the moon by the sheer amount of exposure this market delivers.

They're owned by the league and lose them a great deal of money on a yearly basis. Bettman's wasted millions in legal fees keeping them in Arizona after the bankruptcy and they still owe Gretzky and other creditors millions upon millions.

The Penguins were in serious financial trouble until they drafted Crosby. You don't think Bettman sees this as a chance to make the Coyotes a viable franchise and cement his legacy as the man who made hockey a viable pro sport across the US?
