Wealthy teams still have a slight advantage. Like signing Coaches, GMs, as well as retaining money in rental trades. - Santo_44
Which is all fine and dandy if you still cheer for the Leafs |

Dreger keeps referring to Dion as a "2nd pairing guy". Is that the general consensus around the league now? He went from #1 D, to #2 D, to a 3/4 in a span of half a season.
- gravyface
He's an alright #2, a good #3 and a VERY good #4.
He's pretty much always been that.

Lots of depth D available, though.
Gleason and Bellemore are both stupid cheap. - BINGO!
That's the thing, I think right handers will go first, they always seem to be in demand. |

I was hoping the Canes could grab him for cheap in the off season, but I'd trade a fourth for him if it means keeping Liles out of the lineup and giving Fleury more time to develop. - BINGO!
yeah hed be a servicable d man - good third pairing guy, cheap and effective |

They also allow the league to sucker punch their fans, so teams like Arizona, Florida and Columbus can stay in the league, with Revenue Sharing. I look at the Clarkson trade and figure, OK, it costs over 25 million to take on Horton's salary and make that trade. It's just money that doesn't get put into Revenue Sharing, so it really doesn't matter that much.

Which I don't really get. I think too much emphasis is put on what hand a defenseman shoots with. |

Darren Dreger: The Maple Leafs would rather wait until the offseason to take back a bad contract or retain some salary in a Phil Kessel or Dion Phaneuf trade. There is some interest in Phaneuf as a second-pairing defenseman. Can see the Red Wings possibly circling back at the 11th hour – unlikely, but possible. |

Yeah it seems like they may reward them finally by giving us the all star game, winter classic and draft all in one year |

Pisses me off too. Some of the stuff I play is pretty damn good. It only matters to her, when she wants to sing. Then I throw my clothes at her... Too funny to when I hit her with my jeans it almost knocks the little thing over... - bixll

I like to see if that holds true with D men being dealt this trade deadline, it just seems that way. |

I'd rather they gave us the 1st overall this year instead. The other 3 events will do nothing but increase league revenues.

With Giordano being seemingly injured for the rest of the season, do any of you think Calgary would be willing to make a deal for Phaneuf? I can't think of any other D-men on the market right now, but with Sekera in LA now, maybe Calgary would want a minute-munching #2-3 D-man for the end of the season/playoffs? |
