Sorry for the vague answer but depends how desperate a team needs depth.
- LeafMan

Yeah, I could see quite a few teams interested in him.

I don't know about a 2nd, doubtful but he is playing tough, blocking shots a few feet from him but most of all, he has improved his skating. He belongs now.
- LeafMan

I think you keep him now and trade Polak, because you might get a tangible asset for Polak. The return on Holzer would be minimal....probably a 3rd or 4th.

Hey, I'm still on the fire Nonis train.

But the Leafs cap management is in better shape today than they were before the trade.

And that's a huge part of his job.

The owners agreed to this move....

I agree...just stinks.

They made rules to stop the rich teams from having advantages like the old days

Not looking at Edmonton schedule, they could easily lose all the games.
- robin_steele264

I count about 7-8 that could go either way for EDM! About the same for Toronto

Lots of depth D available, though.

Need the Sabres to catch up... last place secures a top 2 pick!

Wealthy teams still have a slight advantage. Like signing Coaches, GMs, as well as retaining money in rental trades.

If Arizona could win a (frank)ing game it would make this race to the bottom much more interesting.

Hat does Jokeinen get? If the leafs retain half his sallary a conditional 3rd/4th? 5th?
- Santo_44

Jags got a 2nd and 3rd. I think he gets one of the two if we retain salary. I'm sure he's hoping his phone rings every day.

Dreger keeps referring to Dion as a "2nd pairing guy". Is that the general consensus around the league now? He went from #1 D, to #2 D, to a 3/4 in a span of half a season.

I was thinking that, I'm Polak's biggest fan but I think he can get that second and a third/fourth pick this draft.

Which means what? They'll be moved in the off season, but they'll damage the draft position. How many assets would it take, to move from the 7th or 8th pick, to 4 - 5 pick? Probably a first rounder..... So what's it going to be? Ruin the draft position this year, to trade them in the offseason, or do it now and keep us at 5? To me, it's adding one more year to the rebuild, if we let this draft get away from us.
- PrinceLH

I understand what you're saying but it's not exactly as if those guys have been lighting the world on fire.. They've won 2 in a row for the first time in 30 games. This isn't the last draft there's ever going to be either. I'm all for getting McDavid or Eichel but the Penguins, Chicago, Kings teams weren't trying to lose when they got their guys. They just lost, much like we have since Christmas.

Yeah those guys have really been on fire lately. Trade them when the return is the greatest not because they might cost us a slight move in the draft order.

That's where I see him.

#3 is a #3 on a solid defense

Holzer has a bit of youth though and is also cheap. A team could use him going forward if they took him now and resigned him in the off season.
