Last month, Horton said he wants to play again.. Is there anyway, we can prevent that from happening? - PatC80
He's not going to play again.
Even if he does, he can't be worse than Clarkson.
Just can't be

DDD is serious poop...he may try to crack the roster next training camp, but he's 1 more heavy check from being (frank)ed the rest of his life...regardless, whether he plays or not, his numbers/value will always be better than Clarksons |

I'd like to hear what horton thinks of the deal. Hes getting paid regardless so it probably doesn't make a difference |

Money is not the major issue for the Leafs, cap space is.
It may sound silly to trade for a player who will never play a single game for the Leafs, but it tells you that the Leafs would rather throw 25M dollars in a trashcan then keep David Clarkson. - Scabeh

The Horton contract counted against their cap as they weren't a cap-maxed team - robin_steele264
i know but no matter how you slice it, they still chose Clarkson over capspace (and the ability to sign someone who is actually worth $5 million) |

Does anyone know if the Leafs put Horton on unconditional waivers with the intention of mutually terminating the contract, can they pay him out his $26M lump sum and avoid LTIR cap restrictions? |

I don't think last night is an indication of anything other than Bernier being a freaking awesome goalie.
He stopped 47 of 49, and the only two goals he let in were both PP, one of which was a 5 on 3 that not even Price could've whiffed at.
I highly doubt he plays THAT well every night. Plus we'll throw Reimer in a couple times. - mcleafs
It kind of changed my mind on which goalie we should keep around.
If we strike it rich this draft, then having a goalie capable of stopping 47 shots will be something positive to look forward to once some of them start coming into their own 2-3 years from now.
I'd be fine if they pulled a Habs and things turned right around for them next season (talking about when Habs got Galchenyuk). |

They chose Clarkson over paying 5 mill for no player that counted against their cap

Not sure but you cannot do it with an injured player. |

On a strickly hockey team management point of view, yes.
But I guess that's without considering he's the one that signed Clarkson in the first place. |

What other team is in full rebuild, has a contract they really want to unload and has the cash to make this happen? |

For owning up to his colossal error and SOMEHOW moving that monster contract, Nonis does deserve a bit of credit.
The money isn't ours
EDIT: (frank)er should still be fired for ever getting us in the mess to begin with though |

I think you can if the player agrees to it.
And then give him a front office job. |
