Horton was out with an arm injury, the jackets were going to insure the contract when he returned, then he injured his back, so the jackets never had a chance to insure it. They waited too long. I heard this on sportsnet.

So which brought us to yesterday where the Jackets would rather pay 5+ million for 3 goals a season and get a body in the lineup rather than 0. They initiated the talks, they wanted out of Hortons contract. I'm surprised teams like the Bruins, Pens, etc. didn't jump on this first.

Here's a question: if the Leafs move at least Phaneuf and either Lupul or Bozak, either now or in the summer, is there really a need to then move Kessel?

I mean, we'd have like $10-15m in cap space even after signing Kads and Bernier to reasonable deals after all that and that's even counting bringing up a bunch of youth or small 1 year deals to fill out the roster.

Do we really need to go lower than that now?

The damndest thing happened.

i woke up this morning and Clarkson had still been traded. It wasn't a dream after all!

What was a dream was I dreamt that Kessel got moved to Minnesota for a 1st, two top prospects (I don't know any Wild prospects so I think my brain just made up some bullpoop) and a 2nd rounder next year or something like that.

I was a trifle disappointed.

So, waking up was actually a pretty good time this morning
