And we don't know whether Gudas is coming back or not. And they won't know before the deadline. Prudent move in today's wide open East environment would be to acquire someone. Even if both Carle and Gudas come back, having an extra quality skater only makes the Lightning that much more competitive in the spring.

Dealing a late first-rounder that likely won't have an impact for 3+ years won't hurt this group. The core is young.

I think the reason why cbj wants to trade wiz is because they have alot of young d-men coming up. Dont think they'll take ccarles contract back. More likely a 1st and a prospect.

Maybe even a first is enough if tampa is the only team interested thats not on his list no-no list

i don't think wisniewski is that much of a upgrade over carle. plus i'm sure carle and wisniewski both have no trade clauses in there contracts. why would carle waive to go to the blue jackets over no state taxes in florida and a playoff team this year with the lightning ?

The Franson deal really set the market. This just upped the market since Franson was 2 rentals and this was just Sekera.

In related news, the Tampa Bay Lightning are pleased to announce our deadline acquisition, Matt Carle. Unless Yzerman makes a hockey trade type of deal he's not paying these prices for a rental. Maybe Wiz or Yandle or somebody else younger otherwise I think we see at most a minor deal

Wiz is the bomb on the PP. IMO one of the most underated offensive d-men in the league. And he's physical. His biggest issues in his career have been staying healthy and not getting suspended. He should have 3 or 4 50 point seasons under his belt if he wasn't such a wrecking ball/bumhole.
