I do not see a path where the jets lose this trade unless kane and bogo become all stars and myers is out of the league in 3 years
- homiedclown

What if Armia and Lemieux never pan out? Is Myers and whoever they get with a late 1st better than Bogosian and Kane? I think there are many ways either side could be deemed a loser. I expect both teams will win the trade with what they acquired, however.

Sabres got good 2 NHL Players. CBJ only got one. By any logic the Sabres win.

That stuff that was thrown in going to CBJ will be trade fodder in a few years and that 1st round pick will most likely never be a player anyone remembers.

I just broke down and ordered Center Ice for the rest of the season.

I go back and forth on it. I want to do it because rooting for Arizona and the Oil is like playing with house money while I want to pull my hair out when watching our team because the only good outcome is "even". Also, the Oilers are more entertaining. However, I am already completely obsessed with it.

How awesome is it praying for other teams to win and our team to suck.

Also, we're not mathematically out of the playoffs.

It's easier for me because I kind of like the Coyotes.

Likely? if that's the case why is having a 1st rounder such a big deal? I'd say it's at least 50/50 that first turns into something. It's not like this is a 3rd rounder

The whole year has been awful and exhilerating at the same time. I thought it would be pure dread like last year was but it hasn't. That said.... I'm ready for what's next. We've spent the last few years debating Myers and Darcy and tanking.

There has been a lot of research on it and there are various dropoffs in the first round. I would take two very good-to-great players for a pack of questionable returns every day of the week. Once again, it matters not what Lemiuex, Armia or anyone else turns into. All that matters is what we got. One should never grade a trade by figuring out who "won". Also, people are forgetting that we were dealing from a position of ridiculous wealth. We were already running out of contracts to offer people (you can only have 50 at any one time).

Yeah, it isn't an issue now but at some point we would have too many bodies. Even if this wasn't true I am always in favor of turning smaller pieces into large pieces.

stafford
stewart
mezarous
mitchell
kaleta
nuevirth
lindback
benoit
dalpe
strachan
Jordan undercover brother
JGL
Leuiwen
Varone
Sundher
MFE

and this isn't all of them.. i only see us re-uping a few of these. Maybe mitchell nuevirth, strachan, Varone (but he might want to go somewhere else)..

that opens up a lot of contracts

I don't think any of the guys that are in the know have had much lately. That isn't surprising as TMGM has said that activity has been light. One of the national guys reported that talks with the Bruins were heating up and that Stewart would be part of a bigger trade.

I think the large wave will come in two years when we have all those second and third rounders turn pro.

We're so close to the end of enduring a painful but exciting few years. Exciting obviously because of the prospects of this team in the future, certainly not the present. Murray, new team look, high end prospects for once.. once this draft is over, I'll be excited about Sabres hockey again. And no, I'm not expecting playoffs next year but it'd be nice.

I'm pretty sure that guy only rolls in here when a deal is done in principle.

I liked that 'Murray was talking to 3 or 4 teams today' yesterday. Don't need to be an insider to know that he's getting or going to get calls. But he was hustling yesterday, maybe setting up larger deals than Mitchell for a 3rd

Well said. As I get older there are few things that I enjoy more than watching young kids come together as part of something special. That ride coming out of the lockout was amazing and better than anything that happened after that as it was unexpected (not unlike getting some unexpectedly on a first date).

Something isn't right as that would mean they had 51 prior to the Myers trade.

50
-2 (Kane and Bogosian)
48
+3 (Staff, Armia, and Myers)
51

Edit: CHL players under contract do not count towards the 50 until they have played at least 11 NHL games.

There is also a 90 player maximum allowed in any organization (SPC and drafted players unsigned)
