I was never a Meyers hater, but i think BoGo's style of play was much needed on this team. The way i see it, he ends up in the penalty box for clearing the front of the net or knocking someone down when a team is trying to set up a cycle. Those are two areas pretty much no one on our defence would address.
They have two completely different styles. meyers wasnt working here and i like Bogo's here.

I hated to give up on Myers. Plenty of upside.. But I'm REALLY enjoying the physicality of Bogo and he does play solid.

When this team goes on a deep playoff run in 3-4 years (at most I hope) Bogo's value will outweigh Myers offensive edge.

Myers is a pu$$y and will always play soft. Karlsson (sp) in Ottawa will put up great #'s but IMO will never be valuable when it comes to the playoffs.

Bogo will clear the net, block shots and stick up for his teammates on those PK's late in the 3rd period of a tie game in a deep playoff run.

I got to say, they way we have been playing the last couple of games, if we had some scoring up front we would be winning even more. Our Defence work their butts off and since Enroth left, we have either won, gone to shootouts or made it a close game. I know thats not the plan this year, but I dont mind the defensive side of the Sabres right now...

Quite certain #Amerks RW Zac Dalpe and C Phil Varone will be joining the #Sabres for tomorrow's game against the Canucks.

I have complimented Bogo. In fact I just said he was in the hardest position on this team outside of the goalie. You, like many others have selective reading syndrome.

I'm not going to hold back when I have a strong opinion on a player. You can call it obsessive, that's fine. But I think it's more of the fact that you rarely have any facts to back up what you say

- sbroads24

How's that?

Because I don't just whip out stat after stat if someone "insults" a favorite player of mine?

You have perfected the "art" of having stat after stat at the ready as soon as someone talks down your boy Myers. As soon as your "Myers alarm" goes off, you are in defense mode when any poster on here has a negative thought on Myers, and you have to throw in "well, Bogosian took this bad penalty" on top of it.

Stop comparing the two. It's pointless and quite obsessive how you feel you have to be the white knight defending Myers' honor.

He's gone.

Winnipeg got a good player. So did Buffalo.

We have faced Philly 2x, Columbus, New Jersey.

The Rangers walked over us and Nuevirth was the only reason we came close against Nashville. We are the same team.

You read what you want to read. I said that Bogosian has taken penalties because he's hung out to dry here. Like Myers was.....Difference is Myers was criticized for it.

I don't dislike Bogosian at all. If Risto/Zads turn out he's a competent 3. I'm really not sure what else to say. I'm not going to suddenly like the trade or have a different opinion on Myers now that he is traded. You can ignore it, or don't bring him up. Because again, I wasn't the one that did

there were many hockey writers that said the sabres got the 2 best players in the trade

In a perfect world, Darcy or Murray would have obtained a player like bogo to play with myers, not gorges or regehr

We will never know how Myers would have played with a player that plays bogo's style, but my guess is we would have seen an improved myers at the next level

I'm going out on a limb and saying the surprise trade, well somewhat surprise trade considering his contract, is Cody Hodgson.

Bogosian is good. No doubt about it.

Kane is good. No doubt about that.

Neither are great yet.

Of course the Sabres are going to have to pay part of his salary if some team does take him and think he will go back to a productive player.

In a perfect world we got a 1LW and a good 2-3 D man.

In a not so perfect world, Bogosian remains inconsistent with injury issues and Kane wears out his welcome. I'll say it's likely that it's somewhere in the middle

if armia and lemieux become 40 point 3rd line players, kane needs to put up 65 points a year or this trade will be blah

I dont even understand this reply. Its not like im saying we're going to the stanley cup finals. Im saying if we scored a couple more goals, we would have won a few of those games. Next year, depending on our makeup, we should be scoring a few more goals.

Im not hung up on losing lemieux, I know armia needed to adjust to the north american game but kane scored 30 while armia has barely sniffed the nhl. Im very excited to see kane in 2/3 years on mceichels wing.

I think the trade is blah no matter what.

IMO McDavid or Eichel are players that can make decent players really good. I would have rather seen them trade Myers ++ for a bona-fide franchise defensemen (not that they are available all the time )
