That's not really true. At least not yet.

Benoit and Bogosian have been dominated possession wise the same way Myers Gorges have been. Difference is we again have a hot goalie.

Also, Bogosian has taken penalties in just about every game. He's been far from mistake prone. They're has been no actual upgrade.

What's your point?

Cody Hodgson barely takes any penalties. Either did Leino. Weak argument.

Bogo > Myers. Hands down. In a perfect world I would have liked to have seen both on the Sabres. But that just didn't work out.

Myers got criticized routinely for being dumb or taking stupid penalties. Bogosian has done the same.

IMO it's more that Bogo and Myers are hung out to dry on this team rather than them being bad or stupid players.

Being in Bogosian or Myers spot on this team is the 2nd hardest job outside of Nuevirths

the logic here, as presented, would equal you hating two 2nd round picks for, say, Jonathan Quick and Jamie Benn
- TheSabresTaco

The statistics speak for itself. You traded for someone who was still 19 and taking the previous year in the 4th round, and you got a 4th line grinder with it.

Name ten players, from the last ten years, that have been selected in the 4th round, and had a successful career. I'll be up all night. Simple stats show, the player isn't going to mound to much. Now go throw and look at the last 10 years and find players that where taken in the 2nd round whom have had successful, much better percentage rate.

And since its pretty much a crap-shoot, I'll take the better odds.

Tell me, why can't you ever just give Bogosian the credit you gave Myers, then, if they're basically a wash?

For the life of you, you cannot bring yourself to compliment the kid.

I refrain from commenting on your posts as much as possible, but it's gotten quite sad how you can't admit that the defenseman we got back is also a damn good player.

I bet if we go back 6 months, and look at every post you put up, the name "Myers" is in there 90% of the time.

It's borderline obsessive.

There's those movies, no matter how many times you see them, you cannot turn off (Pulp, Shawshank, Rocky and - guilty pleasure revealed right now! - That Thing You Do!)

I have complimented Bogo. In fact I just said he was in the hardest position on this team outside of the goalie. You, like many others have selective reading syndrome.

I'm not going to hold back when I have a strong opinion on a player. You can call it obsessive, that's fine. But I think it's more of the fact that you rarely have any facts to back up what you say

I was never a Meyers hater, but i think BoGo's style of play was much needed on this team. The way i see it, he ends up in the penalty box for clearing the front of the net or knocking someone down when a team is trying to set up a cycle. Those are two areas pretty much no one on our defence would address.
They have two completely different styles. meyers wasnt working here and i like Bogo's here.

There was a poster here that had a name "Mr. Purple". Honestly thought that was the best username on this entire site.

Because, he was on another job.

Bogosian's last two penalties had nothing to do with physicality.

Again, he's hung out to dry much like Myers was with this pathetic forward group

I hope they or a couple other teams need a goalie and are interested in Neuvirth and make an offer. I bet he goes on deadline day.

That is an easy excuse to give Myers for the loose way he played in his own end and you haven't stopped with the excuses. They were fast and furious before when he was here and they are still coming now.

Obviously TM and his fellow scouts he brought with him didn't think too highly of him since Myers was available for trade for quite awhile as he mentioned on WGR this week and he mentioned it must not have been easy on him.

Anyway, whatever keep liking him but some of what you post Myers being hung out to dry doesn't have a ton of truth.

Im not paying that close of attention. But what im trying to say is that his style of play was needed in buffalo. When teams would start cycling the puck in our end....5 on 5.... And our players would start to get hypnotized and just watch? That was difficult to watch as a fan. Bogosian at least has the smarts to knock someone down to stop it.

It does have a ton of truth. And their are really simple numbers to back that up.

36% offensive zone start percentage is one. Lowest in the league at one point. He was put in bad spots with bad players.

Bogosian has had the same fate. Only difference is our goalie is bailing him out.

You used to always sell us on the strength of Myers by how many minutes he played, Bogo hasn't played less than 25 minutes, played 28 last night, has played over 32 in a game. He had 4 blocked shots, 4 hits, one take away last night and an assist. I don't have time to go through all his games but when he is out there the other team gets less scoring chances and, selfishly, it pisses me off, because it hurts the tank.

Damn, I said I wasn't going to argue with you but I can't believe you are putting Myers on par with Bogo defensively but so be it.

Eh, it will all come crashing down. He has 0 effect on the tank.
