Wow, this wasn't brought up and quickly squashed the other day.

I'm not squashing it I'm taking lupul if they retain or take Scuderi/Sutter.

LOL on Lupul. Dude is making 5.25 million for the next three years and has averaged less than 45 games played the last six years. He is as fragile as Bennett. Not a wise investment. Doesn't he have lockerroom issues as well? He isn't close to being the answer. If so, offer Sutter and Scuderi and nothing else. No Harrington, no Dumo.

Serious money has to be going back north to get this done, if its in the works. Lupul isn't a solution.

Toronto has to take Scuderi or retain 30-50% of Lupul's salary for anything to work so what we would give Toronto would be largely dependent on how the deal is structured. Lupul @ 50% retained is a great bargain, regardless of injuries.

I agree, if they can retain that much salary or at least enough to have him at 3 mil a year then it's good value.

And would cost a hell of a lot to acquire him at that rate.
- dbell646

The bad news is Lupul misses about 20 games a year. The good news is he's already misses those 20 games this year. He should be fine the rest of this year.

He misses 30+ games per year. 261 games played in his last six years. At least, he should be rested.

I'd rather keep Sutter and Scuds. At least you know they're going to be healthy enough to play. If you get Lupul, who's going to replace him from WB when he inevitably gets hurt?

Keep this in mind any time we are tossing around rumors moving guys with limited no trade clauses:

Aaron Portzline @Aportzline · 5m
Told James Wisniewski's list of 10 no-trade teams was put together in a way to make it more difficult for #CBJ to trade. In other words ...

Aaron Portzline @Aportzline · 5m
... teams with no cap room and no need for offensive defensemen were approved, while teams with glaring need/cap room were on no-trade list.

It's not always about favorable/unfavorable destinations. Players/agents can make it really tough on GM's to move for a "fair" deal.

Lupul when healthy is a beast. .....too bad he never is. But he is not soft and comes up big in the clutch. I don't expect much of anything to come back, unless we took back salary at which point the return could be decent. If he stayed healthy he would be big in the playoffs for you. He's terrible defensively but plays gritty. I hope he stays healthy and goes on to win somewhere, always been a fan.

I'd take that deal and be fine with it.

How about BOZAK? He could turn out to be a very good 3rd line C for us.

I say we throw Sutter out in a trade to the Wild... for Berg. That way they get Sutter and Suter, and we are happy.

100% legit, lets do this

Pass on Bozak. A 4.2 million price tag for the next three years for a center who has played with good talent (JVR and Kessel) the last two years and his career high is 49 points? Easy pass. He would do exactly what with our third line?

spaling can step in for sutter on the 3rd line if need be. isnt that one of the reasons they agreed to terms with him? because he could play up/down the lines? if spaling can play center and downie has more points in less minutes than sutter can step in to spalings wing position on 3rd line.

i am not sure if the pens make any moves. giving up assets for guys who will be avaialble in june? maybe just wait until some # comes off the books. I think JR will have about $15M after the season ends.

It's funny that guys would rather have Lupul than tlusty... if pens are going after Toronto players and are giving up on Bennett Wilson and a d prospect then make a package for Kadri and winnik

Also GMJR stated yesterday dupes will NOT be back this yr.. including playoffs... so when doing playoffs lines. Keep him out...

And just furthers my conclusion that he will retire and join front office... his cap hit +his age + medical conditions = retirement on a high note...

Decent? He is decent with JVR and Kessel. Put him on our third line, he becomes terrible.

This is the exact reason he is my favorite player of all time.
