Lou is one of the best GM's ever. No chance in hell he makes that deal.
I wouldnt make that deal and Id be a horrible gm. - thickman1178
Jagr said he wants out if they aren't making playoffs, and they're not |

haha nah, the only assets a GM has at their disposal, are players and picks.
The Jets only gave up two lesser assets for a better player.
Tlusty > Winnik - MattStrat
id take tootoo, elias, and i suppose jagr or to an extent ryder depending on what wed be giving up...were obviously not going to get andy green, larson, or severson though any one of those 3 would be a nice bolster to our D
i think itd be funny if lou screwed jagr and just kept him and traded elias bc he knows elias is looking to win which he wont be doing any time soon in NJ, elias on a 1 year deal right now?

Ok - first he failed to mention Kap and Sundqvist who would be the most likely two to be called up to the team. We traded a 4th in the upcoming draft and a 2nd in the 2016 draft. If we are injured next year you're expecting that 4th round pick to be our savior? The following year 2016 (as of now) we still have the first round pick. I would like to see the Pens pickup better depth players in the off-season (Comeau types), but this move does little to hurt their future. The 2nd in 2016 is the only thing of any value, and it will likely be a late in that round. We've got Malkin and Crosby in their prime with Fleury and Letang playing very well - let's go for it while we can and focus on improving depth for next year in the offseason. This trade certainly isn't a huge impact on their farm system. They need to get to a point where they're not trading away a good number of their picks, but JR has made solid moves so far. - mw630

And of course... the Penguins annoucment of this on facebook... so many stupid comments.
Best I saw was someone legit believing Sill is a better player, and Toronto owes us a mid round pick with Winnik for Sill. - Guile

jagr is also a jagoff and cares only about himself, and hes screwed multiple teams before, and hes kind of tying NJs hands bc he now has less value now that everyone knows he wants to leave, elias is a class act on the other hand and I think he and geno could really be succesful together |

That's exactly what I was thinking as a possibility. That would truly be all the way in. But I think the lineup would be stacked. - jfkst1
Agreed. THAT would be GMJR going all in. I could honestly see it happening. |

Elias has another year at I think $6mil. Would love to have him, even at his age but it won't work

So just to clear this up for some people since some seem to be confused. Nobody wanted Sill. Toronto did not want Sill. He had to be included to make the Cap work even with Toronto retaining 50% of Winnik's. The Pens had around $450,000 in cap space. Even at 50% Winnik was $650,000. So Sill goes the other way to offset most of that $650,000. So now the Pens have around $350,000 in cap space. SO keep in mind any more trades have to be within $350,000 of even money. |

Elias would be super poised, too. Geno needs that presence still, I think, to avoid losing interest if he hadn't scored a point in the first ten minutes of a game. Comeau slides down to bottom six; in that case I scratch BB and deal him in the of season. |

I'd still like to add Glenncross if at all possible and call it a day.

I dont think so...sutter as weak and slim as he is, still back checks, and can skate, whether people want to admit it or not, hes not that bad on the pk, sure hes a one trick pony skating down the rw and ripping a wrist shot far side top shelf, but hes a better faster skater than winnik, i slot winnik on wing if its up to me, we will see what mj does |

I like the Elias idea but only for Sutter/Scuderi. His salary is what, $6M? We can't afford to give up Martin and Ehrhoff now. |
