FWIW... Pens are scouting the NJ game tonight. Not sure of how much cap we have now, but #jagrwatch in full effect. If Winnik can play center for us.. Sutter for Jagr + a pick if we can get one out of them.. |

I love that the Pens picked up Winnik and I know Sill is hated on by a lot of people but I still think he brought a lot of energy every game. One of the hardest workers on the roster. It's not so much losing Sill that bothers me a bit, it's giving up 3 pieces for a 3rd or 4th line potential rental. I know there's no guarantees with picks in those rounds, hell, there's no guarantee with some first rounders, but picks are assets none the less. - MattStrat
Please, you will get nothing here trying to defend Sill |

It'll depend on how Winnik does this postseason and if the Pens can retain him after this. It would have been really nice to put Sutter in on this deal. - jfkst1
Spaling may actually work well with Winnik. Two western conference types. Perhaps put one of the two at center and get Downie on the line.

Surprised you aren't frantically searching for the lone Zach Sill fan/guy with his jersey on from the Calgary game to buy him a beer and console him. |

Bennett is garbage and has looked worse than Sutter recently. Before that he was a healthy scratch. At this point BB would be most useful in WB. - sammy87

I was always against it, but now that we have Winnik and Spaling who can play C.. I'd be for a Jagr+ pick for Sutter deal.
I know you're with me Bartley

that should have absolutely nothing to do with our evaluation.
This is because once his contract up, he is a FA. They can either sign Winnik or an equivalent player for the same money. They acquired a few months of him, whether he is back next year or not.
i hope they extend him because i think there's a chance that Winnik is an undervalued player/asset because of his skillset. But i just dont think an extension should factor into trade evaluation. |

Winnik for a 2nd and a 4th and Tlusty for a 3rd and a 6th? Is that right?
Good luck in Toronto Silly boy! Good Nova Scotian kid. Red neck type and hard to play against.
Again, I love Winnik but I thought we overpaid considering Tlusty's price. |

Pens got a solid player in winnik, we'll see if it was steep, but they got the guy who would help the most. |

Best part of the deal is we don't lose a roster player, forever pushing Adams out of the lineup and into retirement. |

haha oh I know. If I was fine with Staal leaving, trust me Im totally fine with Sill leaving...it's just the 3 assets that bothers me a little. I'll get over it though...especially if he fits in well, produces AND signs an extension. |

I disagree about giving up too much, we can acquire draft picks in another trade; I make this trade 100 times out of 100. Plus a 4th round pick is a crap shoot anyways, this is a good move and much needed to win now. Winning now has got to be the priority I love this strong play by Good Ole JR.
The second rounder hurts, but it wont hurt so much when we raise the banner next year. - nbartley9
There's a making the playoffs banner? It's been so long for us I don't remember that. |

He's a AHLer on most teams. Tries hard but doesn't accomplish much. The picks are what I'm concerned about. But if Winnik helps the team out and/or resigns I have no problems |

I think that guy filed for a restraining order after our encounter at the game. |
