You have to have a team doctor deem you "medically unfit to play" to go on LTIR. Falsifying that could have severe penalties for violating the CBA.

I heard it could lead to a position with the department of player safety?

I know, I've just heard every team's fans say it (well, several team's fans, anyway).

Well, yes, if you have trouble standing without feeling nauseous, feel ill when you see bright lights or hear loud noises, have short-term memory loss and legit brain damage, it probably could.

If the severe penalty is forfeiting a first round pick or your 3C..... then I say we try it.... see what happens

Please choose one:

a) Do not trade Downie
b) Downie for Tyler Kennedy
c) Downie for Jagr

Go.

- jmatchett383

Crap, this is a very good post.

I say A, and that's not an easy decision.

That is actually one of the possible penalties (loss of first round pick).

I guess Jagr to Blackhawks? They are going to pick up anyone they can now, since Kaner is out.

what if it's a package deal with Sutter? Consider it collateral damage
- willi

Man you guys are putting the screws to me today, Guile had a good post as well. IF and I say IF Sutter is shipped out as well I would be ok with a Downie trade.....man that's hard to say.

I would deal him for TK. TK would still probably not score but at least his PIM would be limited to minors. I'm worried about Eager and Lapierre doing stupid, foot-shooty things.

Quiet, banana heart.

Actually, I was right about the other two. The point was, this is Rutherford's first year as GM, so prematurely judging him or blaming him for roster construction that was (more or less) laid upon him by his predecessors seems a bit premature.

- jmatchett383

Your Actually, I was right about the other thing TOO (notice spelling). You are right. You can't judge Rutherford on the roster construction. Every move he made for the most part turned out very well. He didn't have much wiggle room because of Shero's failures.

That said ... you need to get the to, too, and two thing sorted out. You were wrong.

Haha come on!!! Downie has been such a great spark plug for us this year. His PIM are greatly exaggerated by his 10MIN misconducts

I think he has like 70 of them.

We aren't playing the Flyers in the play-offs, so acquiring TK is pointless.

I like it when he's in the locker room and not in the ice. He'll play under control until the perfect time to give the Islanders something to rally around in the first round.

I want to see JJ traded to the Island. This will complete his task of playing for every team in the ole' Atlantic Division.

Then next year he signs a 1 year deal with Carolina and gets traded at the deadline to CLB. This will complete the same task with the Metro division.
