This does not create any additional cap issues, as long as whomever they bring in is at the end of his deal.
- BruinBlood

Pete is just in a horrendous position. Jacobs breathing down his neck to the tune of "we only will accept" a winning team NOW attitude. The team is banged up and clearly not at a level to win in the playoffs.

Lots of fans want a mini rebuild, but let's be realistic that really cannot happen now. Pete can't realistically ship out UFA's at the deadline and be a seller with Jacobs and Neely looking on. At the same time Pete doesn't want to mortgage the future to bring in temporary help.

Why does it create a cap crisis if you keep Krejci out till the playoffs? Bringing in a UFA.
- Tachmo

Scenario: B's make that trade. Lose last three games of season, miss playoffs. Word gets out Krejci could have played if not for cap. You think that doesn't blow back on Chiarelli?

Good point. That could likely happen.
I guess the thought magically bringing in an impact player from Krejci's LTIR cap relief is probably a pipe dream. A perfect storm would have to go down to acquire new player on an expiring deal, slip into playoffs and have perfect timing for Krecji to be back at the same time.
If Krejci's timetable was a little longer it would be different.

Still wanna trade him to us?
- Shaundre93

Thats not totally off the Table. Management seems to give Higgins miles of rope of play with until he is reeled in. Kassian cannot get management respect.

But, it is not his point production only during this resurrection.... his d-play has been much improved.

Interesting conundrum....

Do you factor in that any Boston playoff dates may be limited to one round?

Problem I see is the 2 Studs for the past 3-4 years on D are all in decline Chara-Seids
Could it be that they are both coming off Knee Issues..maybe, OR could be that all the physical minutes these guys have logged are catching up to them.

That's what Harvard needs to figure out.

- BruinBlood

yeah exactly. and he will. or he won't and he'll be looking for work. given the turnaround the franchise has seen since he became GM i believe he'll right the ship.

This right here is the issue. This team is all in this together and if they don't band together and understand the stakes with PC and Julien's jobs on the line I don't think they really deserve to be kept. PC has had faith in this team and trusted them with NMC's and paid them well but they are falling flat on their faces. If the B's get beat out by the Panthers or Flyers for the 8th spot someone will have to pay the piper and it usually falls on the GM and Coach, not the players.

If I was in Jacobs' shoes I'd be telling PC to get whatever he could for some UFA's ie Soderberg and be focused more on winning a cup next season rather than making the playoffs at an 8th seed. I'm sure there are a couple desperate West Coast teams that would pay a decent little price for Soderberg. Frankly they need to take a long look at this roster and see what they can get for some guys who may not be here due to cap concerns in a year or two.

I'd say that's more likely due to the cap situation. They did make the Boychuck trade. And seemingly drafted a future top 6 player in Pastrnak.

Benning last season be like: Since imma be a GM next season, might as well screw this team up and make them bad by trading good players away

Are you talking about the Bruins TV show where they showed the Seguin discussions? I don't think he was any more vocal than the others about it, but he definitely seemed on board with the decision.

It does scare me that he thought the Bruins would be better off without an elite young talent.

I believe Benning is probably too intelligent to say "imma be" so I don't believe you.

While I agree Chia really is in a tough spot right now seems as if he needs to make a Splash. What do you need to give up to get Yandle & Vermette.
You lose a #1 which sounds really bad (maybe give them both #2's you got for Johnny Rocket instead of a #1 ?? wishful thinking) Krug and Subban ???

so in retrosect

Bruins
Yandle
Vermette (who walks at the end of the Season)

Yotes
(2) #2's Isles/Flyers
Krug
Spooner or Koko (Subban)

I dont know, my head hurts
