Milbury and Roenick beating the Flyers don't have their goaltender of the future drum.
Do these guys watch the (frank)ing games? Have they seen Mason play?
It's the typical lazy journalism narrative. I expect it from Milbury, he proved he was incompetent, I expect JR to be a little more tuned in, especially since he played in Philadelphia. - PLindbergh31

Actually letting the season play out was the correct move for the team. Hextall has done exactly what he should be doing.
The false excuse of one of the herd pulled up lame can be used in any season. If the Flyers or any team don't win enough games they won't make the playoffs. Eliminating a team's role in the outcome of their season, is curious. - MJL
Just because the Flyers are one of the teams that got hot when the Bruins went 0-6 doesn't mean one of the herd didn't come up lame. Discounting the tumble of a team in front of you in your good fortune is just illogical. |

This team needs to win a 5-1 type of game. I'll take 2 points any way I can, but I'd like to see some domination tonight. - MatveiDmitrii
I am starting to become more confident when they are playing a strong team than a weaker one.. they seem to play down to the competition. |

Discounting the role of the team that got hot is just illogical. A season is full of ebbs and flows, over 82 games. Where you stand at the end is really all that matters in terms of making the playoffs.

Both of them have 3 games before the TDL, if the Bruins win all three and the Flyers lose all three, they're right back out of it.
The Flyers do deserve credit for picking up enough points during the Bruins bad streak to make up ground. Other teams (NJ, CBJ, OTT) could have done so as well and didn't. Hell Florida had a chance, too and really could have taken advantage of the Bruins and didn't.
But had the Bruins managed to even go .500, the Flyers would be 8 points out, despite their recent stretch of point grabbing. |

He should've been fired at the end of 2013. My mind is still gently boggling from the fact that he wasnt canned after LAST season. What exactly does he have to do to get fired? - Doc_Sarcasm
i genuinely do not know.
the asset management has been horrible. i understand they doubled down longer on the core than they should have. it didnt work out. it happens. i could at least see and understand it, and am grateful for the good run that group had.
but between last year, and right now, there is no plan. no direction. i understand some contracts are immovable. but i just see no course of action to aim towards. just languish. |

Milbury shouldn't have a job after the crap he got away with a few years ago. JR is disappointing. He seems clueless. He just mentioned the Flyers slipping up, but didn't mention the home loss to the Sabres. I think these guys just go on the air and wing it. |

I don't know that I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on Amaro after the Lee fiasco - AllInForFlyers
I would have without a moment's hesitation. I have zero faith that Rube the boob can right that ship. None. Zilch. Nada. |

That's really it in a nutshell. He made a good trade to get Lee. Decent prospects, but nobody who was a blue chipper. But then he turns around and trades him for dreck. I get the idea, recoup some farm guys after dealing your top pitching and catching prospects in the Halladay deal...but at least come close to recouping what you traded away in one of the two deals.
The Pence trades are the ones that got me really pissed. Cosart, Singleton and Santana gone and they got back, almost a year to the day later, Tommy Joseph(concussion prone B- prospect), Seth Rosin(lost in Rule 5 draft) and Nate Schierholtz, who they let walk as a FA. - Jsaquella
The Hamels trade could be the single-most important trade I've ever seen a GM make
He has to come away with two A-list prospects. He flat-out has to find a way. If he doesn't, Lord knows the next time they will be watchable

If the bruins had gone 3-3 before that win the Flyers would be 10 out. Be that as it may, the Flyers have put together a surprising streak for sure. |

I think if it were me owning the Phillies, I would've cleaned house last year at the very latest. I wouldnt have settled for just Marty Wolever's head, and whomever did come in as GM and Scouting Director, they would've had carte blanche to poopcan the entire scouting staff if they saw fit.
Fortunately for RAJ I'm about a billion dollars shy of owning the team. |

Agreed. He needs to, pardon the pun, hit a home run in the Hamels trade. Nobody else even approaches the potential value of Hamels. |

yeah. and he is painted into such a corner that he doesnt exactly have a ton of leverage.
and there really isnt much else on the team that could draw anything. the phillies couldnt have a fire sale if they tried. |

I miscounted...
But yeah, as impressive as the Flyers have done securing points at every opportunity, the Bruins really opened the door. |

It's so hard to get done, to know you've got the right prospects, but he has to find a way to get this done

I haven't at all discounted the Bruins slump as a factor. You've clearly stated multiple times that the only reason the Flyers are currently a bubble team is because one of the herd came up lame, and not at all giving the Flyers any credit for climbing back in the playoff hunt.
