Numbers appear as such. And he's actually....smaller than Sekac.

Heavier, but shorter... yeah. I... I do not know. This is a weird one.

Pretty sure he'll be playing next to Plekanec and Galchenyuk to start. Eventually likely next to DLR...

strange. i liked Sekac, to be honest. he worked hard and always raced back to support the defence.

yeah, I think he's one of those guys like Eller though. can't fault the work ethic and they clearly can move but in the end no results.

If Sekac never develops into more than we've seen(a scoring touch), then yes.
But Smith-Pelley was supposed to be what Gallagher wasn't supposed to be able to sustain. So maybe a change could allow him to at least get a little closer to initial potential? Otherwise, this is an odd move. Anyone know the salary exchange on this?

I think he got the short end of the stick from MT too; every time Sekac played he made line mates play better. When he was playing with good line mates he scored points and then out of nowhere he was moved to 4th line and sat a lot again.

Seems like a weird deal for both teams.

Both guys supposedly have good upside, both have similar numbers(Sekac's are better) both are at the same stage of their development.

Seems like both teams are taking risk without much in terms of increasing the likelihood of reward.

Maybe Sekac was getting fed up with no play; he was quoted last week saying he doesn't see himself as a rookie since he had years in the KHL. Maybe he was thinking of heading back and the Habs traded to get something before he was gone... obviously far-fetched speculation by me.
