I'll suggest everybody scroll down to the bottom of the page and become familiar with the COC before posting.

Maybe some of the refs should do the same.

One of the guys on WSCR was going on yesterday about how Sharp needs to go just to get him out of the dressing room. He's implying Sharp did something or is a cancer in the room. Is it common for organizations to float stuff out to the media so that fans aren't upset when a guy like Sharp gets traded?
- Bustov22

That is a theory some have espoused, citing Sosa with the Cubs.

WSCR could write everything they know about the sport in about 20 seconds

Why would a team in the situation the Hawks are in want to leak that a guy in a locker room issue? That makes him less valuable - especially a vet who would be at least partially brought it for a leadership role.

If Sharp has become a problem, it was in the last week or so since he was out at Studio Paris with a handful of the other guys a little less than two weeks ago. He might have an issue with some guys, but he's been seen out and about with like Kane, Keith, Seabrook, and Toews over this homestead several times.

Edit to add: the general fan, btw, has never heard these rumors because they're just vague chatter on the internet from very niche sites and small radio that literally gets their news from those niche sites lol. If a team was leaking this, they would go to actual news outlets so that the general public would know. That's marketing 101.

For sure it should all be taken with a grain of salt. Until last spring/summer you never heard rumblings of that sort of thing. In fact they always appeared to be a close group, even with the guys who have come and gone with the cap crunch.

Based on their play in 2015-

This just smells different. Same team pretty much, but not playing for each other....., not able to pass well for weeks now, not blocking shots like they have in the past. To my untrained eye this smells of trouble in some area of the team.

Or it could just be a blip on the radar in the middle of the season, and nothing to see here...................

I thought JJ reported a few incidents surrounding a certain superstar around the 2011-12 season when we were ousted by the Coyotes.

Nice video, look forward to seeing you Friday. Can you come out early and watch our skate before the game? Be by the Phil Esposito statue by 1230, you can come inside arena and put together a scathing report of TG's depreciated skill sets.
- TrueGrit

I'm going to the Panthers game Thursday so noon might come a little early. I have to stop in P Charlotte to get my sis and family. Probably will get to the area around 4. I'll call/text when we get there. Go Hawks and maybe you can do some reverse mojo on the Lightning bench LOL

Dan Bernstein gets a lot of his information from committed Indian. If you go back and read CI circa this summer you'll see the reason.

Had me up to there.

Disagree. because you aren't being fair to the beat guys, who have an obligation, especially if their editor isn't a hack or a shill, to validate a story like that. Which is why so many of them (with good reason) steer clear of those stories. generally if those stories get leaked, it's more subtle. Just my experience.

Also, while I get your gist overall, it's p.r. moreso than marketing—not that it matters.

Yep. Maybe he developed a source within the organization since he's forced to talk hockey now and his kid plays but CI is his crutch.

Yea, back in the 2012 season when the trade kane chants started I believe it had something to do with him not fully investing himself. Or it had something to do with the alleged incident in a Wrigleyville bar. Regardless, you have had hunches of locker room issues prior to this one over the past three years. Am I right? Maybe not ongoing issues but incidents. I mean who could forget the Havlat Lapointe exchange.

There was some grumbling around Kane and Skille on a road trip in Anaheim that year. Skille got dealt three weeks later. I believe I had that. In all fairness, I have not reported the vast majority of the Kane stuff I heard. And I haven't heard anything beyond rumors of a kKne/Sharp rift last sumer—which different sources alternately swore were and weren't true.

Just wondering what the Saad situation is? He is a RFA correct? Are the Hawks going to have trouble signing him? Thinking maybe a deal centered around Glencross might be able to get done. Obviously the Flames would be able to take some salary off your hands as well.

Thoughts?

I think the Kane Skille story is the one I am thinking about, and I do recall that their was a mention of the Kane/Sharp fiasco. Whatever the case may be, Sharp needs to move, but at this point I dont think it happens because we wouldnt want to worsen our chances this season. Offseason for cap relief may be the best option unless it brings back a bottom 6 F and a bottom pairing reliable D-man in the same deal. Just my opinion

I'm being completely fair to the beats - if the team was leaking it, then they would have the validation, the source would just be labeled "anonymous" and be done with it. I'm not saying it couldn't exist, but that 1) the team is not likely leaking it since it's literally been no where but hole-in-the-wall site (no offense) and 2) it's not obvious enough for them to report on it. Their #1 job is to get clicks and readers and scandals sell, especially if it's a ~reason for why a team is doing badly. It's a perfect scapegoat and, as has been mentioned, can make the public okay with a popular player is traded.

The main reason I don't believe it is because the core is too close outside the locker room. I keep mentioning the nightlife (because those are the easiest sightings for tumblr to track) but like the Hjalmarssons have play-dates with the Sharps regularly. Maybe they're really good at compartmentalizing on-ice/locker room issues?

For the record, 100% okay with moving Sharp if he makes the team better, be it now or in the off-season. The other stuff is just weird.

And public relations is used in conjunction with marketing, but okay.

They are going to sign him, what he thinks he's worth will determine the struggle or not. But with the way he is viewed by the organization I would say if that was a discussion, Gaudreau would be involved.

Great points, very hard to read as you accurately assess, and yes, you are correct. But that is a pr ploy (as part of larger marketing scheme), no?
