I wouldn't be surprised if he came over next season. Beyond Darling and Raanta (if he's still here by this coming fall), the Hawks have nothing in North America for next season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Carruth isn't offered a new contract. Leighton will probably move on this summer. That leaves Nalimov, Tompkins (NCAA), and Nilsson (who's rights were acquired in the Leddy trade) as the only goalies left in the system.

If you look at the 2011 KHL draft, Vasilevsky now playing with Tampa was picked #7 overall. The next 2 goalies were Anders Nilsson @#10 and Nalimov @ #12. Both are large body goaltenders and their NHL rights are owned by the Hawks.

Interesting, considering the KHL is having big time financial issues.

Also interesting - TT was drafted #18 in the same draft.

Would make sense to me... and it's nice to see more Russians coming over sooner than later after being drafted.

When was the last time you heard of issues in the locker-room with this group?

Don't think we'll ever be seeing him.

I think he made it clear somewhere that unless he was given a job in the NHL he would stick to the KHL. I might be wrong but that's what I thought I heard/read somewhere.

My gut says we'll hear something late Friday night after the Tampa game. I have NO inside information. And I've been wrong before. Actually, many times. heh

Have a good time...and try not to freeze. HAH.

If you are going to be anywhere near Twin Harbors check out the New Scenic Cafe. Chef Graden is awesome and puts together a top notch menu.

If not, and/or that is outside your budget, check out the Duluth Grill on the southern side of Duluth. Duluth Grill was featured on Diners, Driveins and Dives a few years ago.

And there's always Grandmas (they sponsor the Grandmas Marathon).

He probably will wait so the team can accrue as much cap space as possible.

I am going to the Hawks game tonight. Have not gone in a six weeks I sure hope the Hawks come with their A game. If not , I will take another sebatical. I agree with most That we need a tough and big center that is not shy to stay near the goal crease and a tough big hombre that willing to dish out hits and plays smart defense. Sharp, Shaw couple Rocford prospects and one of our second round drafts shoul do the trick in MOP. Doen't let me down Hawks!

Bunch of crap last summer, but it all (usually) needs to be taken with more than a grain of salt

Yep. The longer he waits, the more space he has. Tbh I wish Cuminsky had never been brought up - I know they wanted to see if he could be anything worth it, but he's cutting into cap space now.

For sure it should all be taken with a grain of salt. Until last spring/summer you never heard rumblings of that sort of thing. In fact they always appeared to be a close group, even with the guys who have come and gone with the cap crunch.

Based on their play in 2015-

This just smells different. Same team pretty much, but not playing for each other....., not able to pass well for weeks now, not blocking shots like they have in the past. To my untrained eye this smells of trouble in some area of the team.

Or it could just be a blip on the radar in the middle of the season, and nothing to see here...................

One of the guys on WSCR was going on yesterday about how Sharp needs to go just to get him out of the dressing room. He's implying Sharp did something or is a cancer in the room. Is it common for organizations to float stuff out to the media so that fans aren't upset when a guy like Sharp gets traded?
