I don't doubt it, but Tom Cruise will always be that crazy guy who jumped on Oprah's couch to me.

I wanna waych a custom youtube video of highlights of the 1980 miracle on ice with Maverick blowing up Migs inbetween USA Goals . Aircraft carrier celebrations intertwined with the crowd at Lake Placid going crazy.

Ew no, Tom Cruise

The best thing about Top Gun is it's a running gag on Archer.

since we all know the regular season means nothing with respect to who wins the cup....so why all the angst here...

here is a list of worse regular season for cup winner:

YR TM GP W L GF GA Win %
1937-38 CHI 48 14 25 97 139 38.54%
1948-49 TOR 60 22 25 147 161 47.50%
1944-45 TOR 50 24 22 183 161 52.00%
1933-34 CHI 48 20 17 88 83 53.13%
1927-28 NYR 44 19 16 94 79 53.41%
1960-61 CHI 70 29 24 198 180 53.57%
1952-53 MTL 70 28 23 155 148 53.57%
1966-67 TOR 70 32 27 204 211 53.57%
1923-24 MTL 24 13 11 59 48 54.17%
1994-95 NJ 48 22 18 136 121 54.17%
1985-86 MTL 80 40 33 330 280 54.38%
1991-92 PIT 80 39 32 343 308 54.38%
1990-91 PIT 80 41 33 342 305 55.00%
1934-35 MTM 48 24 19 123 92 55.21%
1931-32 TOR 48 23 18 155 127 55.21%
1963-64 TOR 70 33 25 192 172 55.71%
1989-90 EDM 80 38 28 315 283 56.25%
1932-33 NYR 48 23 17 135 107 56.25%
1921-22 TOR 24 13 10 98 97 56.25%
1979-80 NYI 80 39 28 281 247 56.88%

how about recent vintage:

2009 Pens 45 wins and 99 pts
2011 Bruins 46 wins and 103 pts
2012 Kings 40 wins and 95 pts
2014 Kings 46 wins and 100 pts
and how about those devils during the lockout shortened 1995: 22 wins and 52 pts. the league avg was 21 wins

so lets not give up on our meh hawks of late...in this here NHL wins and points have no predictive value as to will win the playoff marathon..

I think Derek Jeter said it best awhile back. The best teams make the playoffs. The hottest team wins the championship.

Looking a the first King championship, well we all know how important a certain deadline trade for a certain player was. The sequel had a similar story, even. The devil is in the details often enough.

Regular season records don't guarantee anything, but I'm sure that regular season records do have a strong correlation with winning championships, obvious exceptions aside.

oh for sure....NBA is a great example: rarely does a low seed even get past round 1 let alone the finals.

NHL is a very different animal...you got maybe 10-14 points separating the top 8 teams in each conf...survival depends on health, goal tending and contribute up and down the lines

John, just to throw this out there. As someone new and not part of the obvious inner circle of 8-10 guys who have great viewpoints and like to share them, this place is extremely unfriendly. I enjoy reading the comments because many people have great insights here and I like a healthy debate as much as the next person, but seriously, back off sometimes. There was no need to make fun of the trade as much as people did today. And when you make a PSA, stick to the meaning of it and shut the subject down. I'm sure I'll bombarded with the regulars justifying themselves, but try and make this place a little more friendler to people who are newbies/ladies. If I see another comment talking about how all female Blackhawk fans have a boner for sharp, I'm going to lose it. Plus, burning our pink jerseys? Because we all those right? Yeah, that's not at all sexist. Do you have a blue jersey?

Seabrook Winter classic and Hjalmarsson home. Blue? The green ones are bad enough.
