Super update. Thank you.

Disgruntled roulette... I'll play:

1) Sharp (last years rumor and now on 4th line 1/2 the time)... popular enough in the room to stir some muck.

2) Shaw. Just shut up since you got your contract and decided you were a skill player that doesn't need to hit.

3) Crow. However, I'd reverse this one a bit. I doubt there are many in that room that truly believe he is a quality keeper but know he is getting paid elite money.

- jjcbeme

you are dead wrong on #3....craw has been a top 5 netminder upto some of the recent problems....my gawd with out him and the play of darling and Rannta this team us sitting at .500 or worse for the season. The netminding kept this team in every game for the 1st 3 months as they struggled to score and got stoned and then they wen on their typical nov/dec run. Since scoring and team D have been very weak.

Only 1 1st period goal during this homestand and that was yesterday. They have been falling behind alot and chasing the game most of the year. A few times they rallied and got points but that is tough to do every other game. Kings pulled it off during their playoff run last year...we never see that again.

you are nutz....stanbow has his balls in a vice grip with no leverage...other GM's know it. Sharps performance has fallen off the cliff since his big push to make the olympics last year. The hawks have huge cap issues this year and into next year. Sorry no GM is going to the give the hawks a huge return for the sharp of previous years...its over.

so please inform us a scenario where the hawks get a huge return for #10 in the next week...

- bogiedoc

As long as StanBow has at least two teams interested, there is a market for Sharp. I have heard of at least two.

thats a pretty big pay day for a long term AHLer with about 5 games of NHL experience....go figure.

Because there is, perhaps, two-fold pressure on Bowman: the obvious pressure to support a sagging team and possibly skirt the once implausible concept of missing the playoffs altogether, AND because the media spotlight in Chicago has been shifted to big “splashy” moves—the kind Hawk President John McDonough loves—by the Bulls, White Sox, and Cubs.

Hadn't considered this before JJ but it is a great point....

If Darling was given 2 years and 1.5 million per year it wasn't so that he could be third on the depth chart.

Could not agree more.

Is it fair to lay all the blame at one players feet? Of course not, but his play along with Crawford's sure isn't helping.

If you could get both off the team by trade with a decent at best return, would you do it for the cap savings alone?

- kingcong39

Less leverage now than the coming OS. Less leverage before the last draft. Stan should have gone big and moved him then. The cap issue would have been out of the spotlight for a time and he could have taken longer to decide on Leddy vs Oduya.

IMO a better return could be possible now because you may have teams wanting to make a run to make the playoffs this year or, in the case of the Habs, a team who wants to do something more when they get there... Teams like this could end up bidding against each other for his services. Sharp is shooting at half his career shooting percentage - other GMs will see that - and is probably due for a Hossa like goal streak. If Stan waits until the OS other teams will be less urgent and able to look at other options like Justin Williams (as a UFA) or other salary dumps from other clubs.

I'm not saying no team would be interested but I can't see another team shipping the hawks a return that solves a couple holes on this roster....i am more than happy to be wrong.

A deadline trade of sharp would rock this team and be the trade story of the year.

Granted pittsburgh just beat the Blues, would Sharp draw interest from Pittsburgh? Maybe Sharp and TT for Sutter?

In what world is Sutter worth Sharp, much less Sharp+ a top prospect?

from the previous blog:
So Q moans about no net presence now with all the fly by guys they have now. Why weren't the current fly by guys traded?
- KingB

HawkintheD responded: Who specifically? My point was if Jimmy Hayes had shown a penchant for it he'd still be here.

Which fly by guys and who are you trading instead?

Ya, Jimmy H really had a chance with 2 games last year and 10 games the previous year, and those were on limited minutes. Never really had a chance.

- Topshelf2010

Ok so Jimmy Hayes is now the answer to what this team needs. Hindsight's 20/20, so who do you off last year's team to keep Jimmy Hayes?

2 minimum would be my guess- the Habs, Florida for sure; plus Boston, maybe Detroit, Calgary and Winnipeg.

My $10 is on Florida.

Bizarro world.

Sutter may have been the worst player on the ice in Chicago last week.... and that says a lot.

As far as Sharp, look at playoff or playoff contending teams in the East. I would def look at:

Montreal
Florida
Tampa Bay

(for starters)

Hey JJ, can't remember if you wrote it or someone else in the responses, but I seem to remember the following names mentioned: Montreal, Florida, Tampa.

So other than Crow giving up the stinker against Colorado, why is he consistently becoming a scape goat when we have two glaciers for a third D pairing and we lost one of our top 4 D who up to this point has had his worst year as a hawk. Crow has been sensational up to this point and honestly this might be his best season so far.

Ive seen everyone's golden boy be nothing short of abysmal in his own end the last five games. Why is Saad always covered up? You really think he is the future? Kane and Toews were touted as the future and we understand why. When has Saad shown that kind of ability? He is a future depth player, not a cornerstone. You want trade value? Package him with Sharp or Bickell and really make a splash. Answer yourself this, is it more important to win cups now with the new Kane and Toews deals or when they are 32+? Win now and and raise a couple more banners by moving a possible Locker Room issue and a "star" in the making.

I'll date myself. For the first time since I have owned season tickets, dating back to 2007-08 since I am financially able to afford them, I left the game yesterday at the end of the 2nd period. That was the 1st game I had been to in awhile due to young kids, work travel, etc.

What I saw in person was beyond compression. There is NO quick fix to this disaster. This is NOT a bump in the road. This is a team that quite frankly, is NOT that good and while others can sit here and assume the light may go on and this team COULD get on the roll IF their BEST players step up and play like they can, the point is......at what point does that train of thought finally end?

I love Toews, but he has been PURE dog crap for a long period of time here. STOP whining to the ref EVERY time you feel a call should be made. Duncan KEith got embarrassed on goal 1 against. Michael Rozsival gets back doored....and herein lies the problem....It's OK for Q to bench a guy like Rundblad, or Cumiskey, or Leddy in the past but have a double standard when idiot Rozsival continues to play like hell with ZERO repercussions? Think that doesn't raise eye brows in the room especially when this team continues to play MEDIOCRE hockey?

I dont' doubt there is a SERIOUS chemistry issue here. The so called leaders talks a good game, but do the troops follow? SO far....they do NOT. You had a dog and pony show....room is closed, beat writers waiting to get in, and down comes Bowman like Cameron Diaz in Any given Sunday, and then you have all the players sitting at stalls when the writers come in Please.

I am ALL for dealing Sharp now. You dont' need him. You have 2 top lines that for the most part have produced and made Sharp expendable. What again, was the Hawks record when that jag was out?

This team needs a shot across the bow to wake up the complacency and prove that 1 goal is about winning championships from the top down.

Until then, the playoffs are NOT a given. Dont' look now but LA is doing what LA always does...getting hot when it matters. Minny is hot. Winnipeg is right on their @ss. Teams are playing with desperation and a purpose while the Hawks float around like it's a preseason game.

Add Boston to that list who will be without Krejic for awhile.

Any eastern conference team would love to add a 2 time cup winning guy, who can add depth scoring.

Question is would Bowman do it? I highly doubt it. Adding Scott Hanhan doesn't excite me or FIX this problem. Adding Glencross doesn't do it either. This team needs a shake up, not a fine tuning.
