So to get Joradan Staal the Canes gave up a 1st, Sutter, and like 2 prospects right. But to get him back The Canes would ask for Sutter back and bad contract. Ok.

looking at the move of a 1st for perron as bad is pure jealousy. sorry you didnt do... NOT. (it waynes world!) your argument about the "cheap contracts" was completely contradicted with you second paragraph. cheap contracts that can step in... they may need a fa d... like I said.. but a 4-5 guy who isnt exorbitantly expensive would do.

Your depth chart is pretty poor on defense. Depth isn't what your lineup looks like when everyone is 100% healthy. Depth is what your lineup looks like when there are 5, 6, 7 regulars out.

Yeah I said Sutter a 1st and 2 prospects is what the Penguins got for Staal I was wrong. But if you think a sweeten of just Rob Scuderi get's you back Jordan Staal, than I can sell you a bridge too.

Is that defense supposed to be good?

I think you're completely underrating the type of impact replacing 2 experienced veterans that are great defensemen that eat up 20+ minutes a night with a bunch of kids will have.

Staal would be awesome, but I think there are other shut down guys who would be less costly and who just may work out...Eller and Couturier immediately pop to mind. Eller the cheaper option, maybe something like Couturier + L Schenn for Sutter + Bennett?

Lack of depth will kill you again. Your 3rd pairing will suck and once injuries happen to any of the guys you listed, you're royally screwed.

I don't get it...you guys make the same mistake every year. Lack of depth kills you guys. And yet you keep trying to take on large contracts to make to thin your team away on the lower lines more and more.

Our defense isn't great but I like the direction it is going. Right now with Ehrhoff hurt, and we replace Martin with Maatta, this would be the group we start with. Add in the fact we gain $9M in salary, there is potential for good moves.

Do not forget Sundqvist and Kapanen should be ready next year and that will help the top nine. I do agree though as much as I would like Jordan Staal back, I can't see where it would be beneficial to the Pens.

I don't think Philly would give you Couturier for Pouliot let alone the scrub package you put together.

What are you talking about? You all seem to think Jordan Staal could be had for decent player and a trash contract. I'm sure a rebuilding team would love to do that, especially one within you own division. They wouldn't want assents like prospects or draft picks to help their rebuild. No not at all. Use the brain god gave you.

I don't thing the Staal talk is realistic. I'm wondering if it's GMJR's unique way of trying to motivate Sutter. While it may be an appealing idea at the moment, I think they can upgrade that position for less next year and not handcuff themselves for 8 more years.
