Never ever was back in our day.
As a matter of fact, teachers even hand 5 foot long paddles hanging in their closets for us and were allowed to use them.
That's part of the problem with the younger generation when it comes to respect etc.
You touch your children now and you can end up in jail.
Us?
We took our beatings when we deserved them and never once threatened to call the police.
Heck if we we didn't cry right after our deserved beating we got another one for that too.
These kids now a days are coddled far too much.
My 6 certainly weren't by my wife nor myself.
Tough love. It works.

At the same time, there is such thing as child abuse. And victims of child abuse are going to (rightfully) be uncomfortable any time they see a parent using physical force as discipline, whether it turns out that parent is in the right or not. The problem is what while there is a fine line, it's not easily identifiable.

And I'm not saying that.

What I am saying is that while people without children do have a right to comment on the situation, they should also realize that there is a dynamic there that they simply don't understand, and won't until they have kids.

Yes, there are cases of flat-out child abuse that are wrong and need to be called out and dealt with, but they are not the norm.

This is right.
We are not talking about abuse.
Huge difference between abuse and proper discipline.
The law today sides and are built for the child and take away most rights of the parents.
I know this first hand as well.
For us parents that have multiple children, we all seem to have that one troubled child.
I never hit my children, too heavy a hand.
I only raise my voice and even that I make sure I only use efficiently so it means absolutely something when I do, "the kids are like holy poop Pops is raising his voice, he's mad".
My youngest son who is 18 knows all about his rights as a child.
One night he decided to dictate to my wife and I after I had made it very clear he was punished for the evening that he was leaving the house anyway.
I stood in his doorway and waited for him to make a move, he raised his voice for me to move and all I did was grab him and put him up against the wall by his shirt.
My son was in shock, never seen me like that.
Called the cops and don't you know the cops took him away for the night to a relatives home for the night because he felt he was in danger, even my wife and the cops laughed but the law protected him which is truly bullpoop for us excellent parents.
The cops felt terrible for me and told me it sucks but that kid has more rights than you do, and you can not put your hands on him Mr so and so.
That right there is why you people without children do not fully grasp nor understand the responsibility nor full time job it is to raise children , nor what it takes to be frank.
It's always easy to judge from the outside when you only know half of what is going on.
I am not trying to devalue your opinion on "parenthood" , it just is not as valuable as those that have children and have been through the rinse cycle over and over again.

She's right.

If you don't have children you have no clue.
Until you wake up 365 days a year and live your life for your children you have no idea what makes a child tick.

So many things that parentless adults think they know about the raising of children or about children when they really have no clue and are just plain ignorant.
Anyone can sit outside in the stands and call a player a bum.

Until you have filled the shoes of being a full time parent , one will never know what it takes.
That's a fact!

- BuffaloHardHat

You don't need to have kids to know not to slap a kid in a public place like Walmart. Any parent who disagrees isn't much of a parent.

Sure, but read behnd it. At one point they clearly talked about him and it was probably mutually left at "we'll talk after the year".
