But he corrected that problem. He's like a little kid to me; kept saying to Nolan, "can I play tonight, can I play tonight". Now he's learning there are consequences. Since he wants to play every game so bad, benching him is the best thing Nolan is doing.

Did the Lowry Park Zoo and Tampa Aquarium the last few days Homie. The zoo was great but I've been to much better aquariums.

I'm not one to be flabbergasted at child discipline. I grew up in a large family. We were smacked at times, though not excessively, and looking back, we deserved it 99.9% of the time. However, there are parents who do go over the top. This is a good article I read on this topic over a year ago:

That being said, HardHat does have a point. I do not have children, but, having grown up in a big family, the over the top "you need to control your children" crowd almost always seems to be made up of people without children, and that makes me cringe. On one hand, yes, children do need to behave in public, and parents are definitely responsible for that. However, children have minds of their own. Children are naturally selfish. That's not a character flaw. It's just how it is. Concern for others and how their actions affect others is something that is learned with age and maturity. And different children learn it in different ways. What the "control your kids" crowd doesn't seem to offer is a solution of "how" to control your children, The same person that insists your doing a terrible job of controlling your child in public is often the same person that feigns outrage when he finds out that parent smacks his child on his behind a couple times after he misbehaves.

And I'm not saying that.

What I am saying is that while people without children do have a right to comment on the situation, they should also realize that there is a dynamic there that they simply don't understand, and won't until they have kids.

Yes, there are cases of flat-out child abuse that are wrong and need to be called out and dealt with, but they are not the norm.

Never ever was back in our day.
As a matter of fact, teachers even hand 5 foot long paddles hanging in their closets for us and were allowed to use them.
That's part of the problem with the younger generation when it comes to respect etc.
You touch your children now and you can end up in jail.
Us?
We took our beatings when we deserved them and never once threatened to call the police.
Heck if we we didn't cry right after our deserved beating we got another one for that too.
These kids now a days are coddled far too much.
My 6 certainly weren't by my wife nor myself.
Tough love. It works.
