I just did albeit a rough calculation that if the Rangers sign Zuccarello at 5 and their remaining RFA's to reasonable increases, they are at $73M for next season, over the cap. Yes, steal one of those guys in a trade in June would be a good idea.

I'm not comfortable with Whaley as of yet.

Spector reported today that the Rangers offered Zuccarello a 4 year deal for between $4M-$4.25 per and it was turned down. Apparently he is seeking 5 per. I'd love to get Hagelin if they end up signing Zuccarello. They also need to sign RFA's Stepan, Miller and Moore.

You're right, I just checked. He's gotta be the best of the bunch. Hard to imagine he'd walk away from Denver to sign in Buffalo but money talks.

Based on what? He was a 2nd in a very weak draft and its not like his stats are blowing anyone away. Is next years draft supposed to be terrible?

Because he is showing the ability to score goals at a pretty good clip right now and at 20 he'd be more NHL ready than most of the other 1st rounders. It's not like I'm saying he gets taken top 10. In that 15-22 range wouldn't shock me.

Doesn't matter as he'll sign in Winnipeg prior to that becoming an option.

Yea as of right now we have 2 picks in the 1st round and 3 in the 2nd next year in a deep draft. We are going to restock the prospect shelves nicely. We have picked more in the first two rounds in the last two years than anyone else. We have the bodies to make trades

We'll take Brassard off their hands, no problem. Let's just move a few prospects for him lol.
