In a tracksuit.
- Cheeseballin

Not just any tracksuit, though. In Kane's tracksuit...

Marchand's not really the same player plus i just can't cheer for him, bickell's a glorified 3rd liner and like i mentioned before the blues are supposedly looking to move oshie in package for someone who is better than him.
- Sabresfan-365

I was just looking at teams in cap jail and players they would/could move for cap relief. If the Blues are looking at moving Oshie, Murray should be all over that. Marchand could be a Murray type of player. Can you imagine Kane and Marchand at LW in your top 6?

He's signed for 2 more years at 5.5 and 5.

It's not like you have to sign him to a cap killer deal.

He will cost less to obtain than a ROR.

He is in the 2nd tier of guys they should look at.

- dadeadhead

He would be a Darcy move, other team's trash, 2nd tier, if that, on their last legs, to be pillars here, build here, and maintain mediocrity. I say full bore.

Gorges waived too.
- dadeadhead

What a steal that was..

And he didn't waive for his love of buffalo he waived to make sure he didn't play for Toronto

No impact player with any real value is going to waive to play for a team who finished 29 or 30th in the league.

I think Blues have a little wiggle room to play with as for the other two, you're right they're probably good targets but maybe Murray will look at some of their RFA's?

If the Rangers re-sign Zuccarello and possibly St. Louis, maybe we could get JT Miller or Hagelin. They'll be RFA's.

Might be the most likely and I think it'd be a good move. He Zuccarello are still pretty young too (well for a FA)

Either one of those guys would be this teams leading scorer. They are stop gaps that will cost 2nd round pick/average prospects to get as opposed to trading packages for.

I was talking about Sharp who would be 34 years old next year on a rebuilding team. a Bandaid type Darcy move that leaves you looking for an answer again in 2 years and settling for the easier answer that has led to where we are now.

Agree, Darcy's approached really handcuffed this team for years.

By the way, you made my case about the Darcy move. Darcy loved to throw those 2nd picks for trades and get those old players. That imagination he bestowed was marvelous.

That's the point, a stop gap to let the prospects grow and not be thrown to the fire, no big commitment, no packaging 1st round picks and prospects to get him

It's not a Darcy move at all, it's what rebuilding teams should do

You're not comparing Sharp to Raffi Torres or Dominic Moore are you?

Well, it would probably cost a bit more than a 2nd round pick for Sharp. I'm comparing your mindset about how to built the team to Darcy's as I perceive it. I think you are stuck in almost 2 decades of Darcy mode.

They aren't comparable. I don't know what you are even talking about.

Sharp makes the team better. Oshie makes the team better, O'Reilly makes the team better. One costs an arm and a leg, the others don't

Where Darcy is in all of this is beyond me

SHARP IS OLD

you don't go and get an old player for a rebuilding team, you just don't get that. That takes a position away from one of your younger, developing players, who is going to be gone in two years when you are a contender so why is he here for these two years, hence no need for the bandaid.

You don't settle for the cheap talent when you go and get the top talent when you want to win the CUP. Darcy settled for the easy to get, cheap ( as in cheap to get in terms of trade value) because be didn't want to lose a trade but that cheap talent keeps you mediocre. You don't get that either. You get the top talent to win the Cup, you don't settle for 2nd rate, aging talent like Darcy did because it leads to suffering or drafting 10-16 every friggen year.

No I get it, but the Darcy comparison is out in left field and makes 0 sense.

Darcy got average players at the deadline, he never got a player of Sharps ilk over the summer from a cap strapped team

Sharp had 78 points last year, is it inconceivable he could get 50?

Also, if you as you say just don't get old players for a rebuild, what are Gionta, Gorges and Moulson here for ?

So when are people "commenting" (quotes intended) online about articles ever going to learn the difference between a column and news story?

Mike Harrington ‏@BNHarrington 12m12 minutes ago
If you don't know the difference, you're not remotely qualified to comment, so you should zip it.

It amazes me that this guy talks like he is a top rated journalist, you work for the Buffalo News not CNN . Quit being a total douche every single day !!
