The tough part about that is Moulson has a NTC. So he'd have to waive to go there. I'm sure if he got the chance to win a Cup, he might be willing, but I know he was really happy to be coming back here so I don't know how easy it would be to convince him to waive. I'm sure that having that NTC was really important to him. I doubt he'd want to waive it within the first year of the deal.

I would agree that it would be tough to move him, hence the crazy idea comment. Buffalo was his preference but Murray just might have something to surprise us all on deadline day.

I don't like the O'Reilly talk. It seems like Murray is stuck on having to be good next year. I'd rather see what we have in our prospects

Also, I thought Murray wanted character guys? We have Kane, Bogosian who was rumored to have issues (I know Myers was too) and O'Reilly who seems like he cares more about money than hockey. Not to mention these guys have basically no playoff experience.

I figured guys like Sharp or Oshie would have been targets

I wonder if it's pressure from above? I think the timing of the kane deal has people a little shocked but i don't see it as a rush move to get better next year. I just think he really wants kane as part of his rebuild and figured he had to use this window of opportunity to get him.

The thing about Oshie and Sharp (and i wonder if this came across murray's mind as well) is that im not sure having the assets or cap space is enough.

Doesn't matter how much they overpay for him, I just can't see Sharp coming here. I know his list 8 teams he won't go to but id bet anything we're on it and its not changing.

As for Oshie, it sounds like they want to deal him in a package to get an nhl ready player who is better, so we're out on that too. Plus let's not forget it wasn't too long ago that Oshie was being labelled as a bit of issue with off ice stuff and practices.

I just think at some point they'll have to realize their limitations, at least for now. They can talk a big game all they want but as of right now they are still the worst team in hockey, so its still going to be a while before this team becomes a desirable location to play for those vets.

I don't think you'd see Sharp or Oshie moved this season. If either team were to move a guy like that, it'll be after the season is over. I'm fine with that, as I'd rather they not bring guys in now that will improve us even a little bit this year (the Kane trade was perfect since he was already done for the year). I think both teams want those guys for their playoff runs. Once that's over, you might see some movement.

But that's what i mean, even in the off season. They could draft a generational talent and talk about all the money they've got but you still won't be able to attract those guys to buffalo. I think Murray realizes that too and so like Kaiser mentioned, target young guys with decent nhl resumes and high ish ceiling to try and get this team to turn the corner and make it a team that guys would want to come to.

I hope this Zads issue isnt something huge. I actually like the kid. Losing every game is tough to watch and im sure even harder to play. Even Zemgus has been going through the motions lately compared to earlier. Zads takes risks which is something we dont see, joining the rush or closing the gap to lower the boom. Also has the best offensive numbers on this team for defensemen (not saying much but still haha)

This day in history: Miracle on ice 1980, Sabres brawled with Ottawa 2007, Pegula bought the Sabres 2011.

Tough to deal with the young kids these day. Could be more of what happened behind closed doors. Try to influence a 18-19yr old on what you want then to do. Some get it . Some don't. Kinda like being a teacher for a senior class in high school.

What i don't like about it is its being handled through the filter of Ted Nolan. Im not sure if the kid is really messing up or if Nolan just has something personal with certain guys on the team.

I think i'd have to agree with you. I dont get the deal with Hodgson. I've never been a huge fan of his but the kids got some offensive talent. We have the worst powerplay in the league we get you dont like him but still give him a chance. Also he played great against philly and actually was recieving bigger minutes as the game went on.

Sharp is 34 years old, will be 35 next year. Not someone you build a team with until you are ready to add a complementary piece to. I'm not sure why he is even in the same discussion as 23-24 year old's Kane, Bogo, and 25-26 year old O'Reilly.

Marchand's not really the same player plus i just can't cheer for him, bickell's a glorified 3rd liner and like i mentioned before the blues are supposedly looking to move oshie in package for someone who is better than him.

He's signed for 2 more years at 5.5 and 5.

It's not like you have to sign him to a cap killer deal.

He will cost less to obtain than a ROR.

He is in the 2nd tier of guys they should look at.

Regehr does not equal Sharp, and we were a playoff team at that point.
