I agree with this, but as it pertains to the Sabres, how worthwhile is it to go after Marleau? I personally wouldn't burn much on him, he's so far outside our age limit but cetainly helps us now. He doesn't play RW either.

I think ROR feels they don't want him in Colorado IMO, he always seems to be up in trade rumors. They can't pay 29, 9 and 92 plus ROR. There D is horrible IMO.

I'm torn bc I like him as a player
But I really think he wants to get to UFA, and I'm nervous about giving up those assets just to have him walk
And I think it's dangerous to pay him that much when a lot of our kids will prob outproduce him statistically. It could really throw the salary structure way outta whack

Its really tough to understand how this O'Reilly deal would even be possible.

If they weren't willing to do Myers straight up for him, what could they possibly do to make it work now? Are they prepared to flip Bogosian for him?

Murray wants ROR but then again, we may not be a good trade partner.

Our trade bait is gone. Stewart does not command much and the rest will be salary dumps. All we really have left to do is dump at the deadline and rebuild this summer.

I see our future top4 defensemen as Ristolainen, Zadorov, McCabe & Bogosian...

I think Murray is smart enough to get the right deal but why would the AVS deal ROR now when they can have teams like the Leafs over a barrel? but then again, Murray might feel that ROR is the best available for the next couple years out of the players that will become FA's

This... and I'm still waiting to see Grigorenko tear it up, when healthy, in the AHL in his 3rd pro year. 30 pts in 37 games, meh

I agree. He's not fast, and Murray's mantra of being "tough to play against" doesn't seem to fit Grigorenko's style of play...
I could def see Murray using him as a chip in whatever trade he may make

As long as we don't give it away I'm fine with that. We over paid in the Kane/Myers deal. Lemieux could be huge for them down the road and who know what the Sabres via the Blues first pick will bring the Jets.

They have all these numbers guys within the Sabres and maybe they are telling Murray that within the next few years if they get ROR now, they can get him under a contract before the numbers rise even more and the Sabres can't do it. Or, they feel the players becoming availbe with in the next couple years will resign or like I said get to much money and they feel ROR is the best option and young enough.

I haven't seen McCabe play in Rochester so I'd have to take your word for it but I think Pysyk is developed more, passes well and has a strong shot.
