What would u do if u were told to make the playoffs or you're fired?
- jdfitz77

What would I do. Interesting question. This question deserves a well thought out response and I must say I could offer a much better answer if given more time. But at face value....

I'd use my first round pick and my prospects along with some veterans to trade for a real impact player or two. I'd be searching for.. well.. a top 6 forward and a top 4 defender. That D corp is a mess. Trading Boychuk was not their smartest move, even though it had to be done.

My effort would be based on how much I love my job and how serious Cam Neely was.

They need a solid minute muncher on the back because Chara and Seids are getting real crusty. They aren't desperate for scoring but it would help. I'd get a real defender before a top 6 impact forward

This is what I can hitch my wagon to.

Boston needs to make some moves to make the playoffs. Either they're desperate enough to dump some longer term guys to bring in top 6 rentals or use their picks to bring in younger, cheaper assets with term. They're in a very difficult position to improve. I don't see them doing anything significant because frankly I don't think they have the ability to do so.

- TheSabresTaco

They shoud absolutely not make any panic moves. Even if they get into the playoffs they aren't going anywhere. Reboot is coming this summer.

I have a buddy who's a lifelong Bruins fan and he wants Lu gone.

I said it's gotten to a really low point if it's come to that.

Eriksson? Maybe he'd be a better fit here. I'd be willing to stick him on the wing next to an awesome center for a year, see what he's got.

U gotta keep in mind that impact players are rarely available, and the Bruins have Cap issues to worry about

If I were their GM, an asset like Subban is what I'd use to bring in a piece to help now
If I were trading with the Sabres,
If ask for Stewart plus one of our goalie prospects, or a 2nd round pick which I could use to draft another goalie

Subban would definitely be in play. But in this scenario, a gun is being held to my head to make the playoffs. I'm not considering the future one bit. This is a one and done job. Things get very complicated if you're not playing year-to-year fantasy hockey.

You also gotta remember that they NEED to dump salary to take back. So a prospect for Stewart is just not possible.

A guy like Petry makes sense there even if it's only short term.

I agree. They would need to clear 2M to grab him.

We could be an ideal 3rd team in a 3 way trade with them. we can take on the salary they'd need to clear in exchange for futures.

Thing is, i don't know if they've got anyone that's just taking up space. Kelly's name has come up a few times but he's apparently been good for them so im not sure they'd just give him away.

I think they could get by by moving Marchand, Kelly, Eriksson or Seidenberg. Seids has lost a step, but if he's moving, it needs to be for a top pairing guy, or trade Kelly/Marchand for Petry and something. I dunno.

poop, it's hard enough coming up with real proposals for own damn team

You certainly came to the wrong place if you yearn to be engaged by someone of that ilk.

I think we would all enjoy Boston not making the playoffs.

Until they somehow miraculously won the lottery because they didn't make the playoffs.

No thank you to that.
