and in no way am I playing fake insider here. Based on what I was told, 89 said, ans LeBrun and McKenzie, I think Murray really wants ROR by the deadline, which is fairly obvious, but still

I like him, but I really hope Murray doesn't give up too much if the Avs get a deal they like.

This is a risky, risky move. If he doesn't sign an extention here...yikes.

Well, since you're not playing fake insider, and I'm sure you're not, I want to play fake insider someday just for sh*ts and giggles.

Basically banking on Pegula's chequebook being enough. Otherwise you'd have to embarrassingly flip him at next years deadline

Someone who works at the FNC told me Murray was on the phone for 2 hours with the Avs today.

I don't ever post that stuff, but I've been told about the Miller and Kane deals 30 mins before they were announced so there's definitely something there.

- CaptainRivet

Yea Murray seems to get what he wants and won't get taken advantage of, I knew about the Kane deal the night before and the only players I knew about were Stafford and Armia but it wasn't a for sure thing about the players at the time. The next day or that night the Jets said Myers is in the deal or no deal.

Don't know if its just me but Girgensons and Risto have bee disappointments for awhile now. They both seem lost and lacking intensity

I get you're a Myers guy, but honestly Bogo is basically the same age. Any projection on our D corps with Myers hasn't changed much except now they are a little less offensively skilled but a little tougher.

Typical youngins being youngins. Ups and downs.

Especially on a bad team.

Is anything imminent?

If you were to put odds on this deal happening, what are they?

Buffalo Sabres Trade Target - Ryan O'Reilly

This is an exciting time of the year. The weeks leading up to the trade deadline are always full of rumors and speculation. A time to hope that your team is either going to make the trade you want or hold your breath until the deadline passes, praying that your favorite player(s) are still getting their mail at the same address they were a month ago.

Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray has been very active as of late. Making 2 deals weeks before the trade deadline and being rumored to be in conversation for some more.

Would Ryan O'Reilly be a good fit for the Buffalo Sabres?

Ryan O'Reilly would be another great addition to the Blue & Gold locker room. But is it worth the price?
He is a solid 2 way player that is very responsible on defensive assignments and keeps his nose clean. His 12 PIM this season is his highest total in 4 years. Last year in 80 games, he was in the penalty box one time. Whenever a team mate is in the sin bin, it's safe to bet that O'Reilly will be on the ice helping to kill off the 2:00.

His offensive game is there too. Although he is not going to score 50 goals or rack up 100 points, he does produce slightly over a point every 2 NHL contests, and should be a solid 20 goal scorer for years to come and prevent countless scoring chances for opposing shooters.

Now it's a given fact that he would be a wonderful upgrade to the Sabres' forward corps. But what would it cost to get him a name plate above a locker in the Queen City? Rumor has stirred up a price tag of Mikhail Grigorenko, Chris Stewart, and Buffalo's "other" 1st round pick. It sounds like a steep price at first, but is it?

The fact that Chris Stewart's name is involved tells me that this isn't a proposal that Tim Murray wants to sit on for 3-4 months. He wants to do it right now. Whether or not the rumor is accurate, is another story.

Unless Stewart resigns with the Sabres, We are going to call the price, Grigorenko, a late first round pick (likely only 2-4 spots in front of where Buffalo will be making another selection with their 2nd round pick, so it's not as if we're selling the farm at the draft), and whatever Stewart would have brought in a separate trade (Likely a late 2nd round pick).

I think with the prospect of having "McEichel", Sam Reinhart, and Girgensons down the middle for the next however many seasons, Grigorenko may benefit from the trade as well. As he excelled in junior play under current Avs. bench boss Patrick Roy. There will be no room for him at center in Buffalo in the very near future.

If I were Tim Murray. I would be willing to accept this trade. As long as I was confident that I could still address the goaltending situation without that other first round pick.

Not sure.

Just thought I'd post it. Thought it was interesting, since it was a rumor I hadn't heard yet.

They're only 7 points out, but if I'm the Lanche, I'd want ROR over Stewart for any kind of playoff push.

Ryan Miller's first forays into an NHL crease didn't go well, either. I'd still take Subban, but I doubt they move him anyway.
