Here is a rant from my older brother, been a Sabre fan for 60 years! Doesn't log onto site, but follows many of you: (my opinions vary on many of this)

congrats to tim murray.. you got a team in last place! Was that the objective? if it is, and i suspect it is, why not admit it? why let ted nolan take the fall? you will be proclaimed the "genius" , nolan the failure. you cant have it both ways.. i , for one , would rather have a team that was competitive and actually watchable. the tank is B S.. look at the oilers, i know, they had lousy coaching, etc but first picks arent the panacea it is thought of on here.. . i would rather have a team on the bubble, fighting for that last playoff spot .. than have a 5-7 yr rebuilding plan. .. ok .. fantasize about that third rounder murray will get for torrey mitchell..

I'm still really confused why Neuvirth is starting tonight. I know Nolan wants him to play until he can't, but after a late starting game last night that went to a shootout... seems like you should play Lindback.

His style all year has been to play the hot goalie, he has played well last 2 games, so there you go.
Honestly, I'll be pissed if Murray trades him. Murray should be telling Nolan to play Lindback since he wants to "showcase" him for the TD.

Was your older brother a fan of the sabres between 08-13? Which seems to have a better shot at the cup, that sabres team or the one that's about to draft a generational talent?

So I respect his opinion IF and only IF he wasn't on a rant the last 4 years the team miraculously climbed into 9th place . If he uttered a word about this team needs to get better...then here is the way to do it.

Team dismantlement was started by Darcy. This top pick will (should be the cornerstone of the franchise. We haven't had one in a long time. We also have the complimentary pieces for that pick. All will come together at the same time . We have tried and many other teams have tried to add through trades but it isn't that easy. After this season the team will get progressively better and will show on the win/effort chart. we will have more top 10 picks on the roster than anyone could imagine. If they gell and become a team is very good possibility. That is the goal. Must look ahead.

A stanley cup team isn't built over night. And the way it seems to be going, we will be competitive for years instead of a couple . Perfect example is the Drury/Briere team. It was dismantled a year later because of expiring contracts . With the players being spread out it will be easier to replace 1 player to keep it going .
The atmosphere in Sabre land should be more inviting for better players to look into wanting to be here. Change is hard . I'm tired of the same ole hopes and finally things look to be heading in the right direction.
We have waited a long time and endured the let downs. What's another year.

Paul Weiland, Public Relations director back then was on my paper route..I asked him if he could help us get Seasons?..voila, that's what we got. It was cool though (them stairs were steep, can't tell you how many people used to freak out walking down them).

Now we have Four in the first row of 300's at the blue line... And share in 6 others seasons in a group of 20 of us.?.so we get about 20 games each..some more, some less.

A backup to a backup goalie............ we got this locked up to lose.
