the Devils are really amped up over that shootout win over Buffalo the other day
- jimbro83

That might have been the worst nationally televised game NBC/NBCSN has televised in the last five years.

Yes ive watched a lot of his games. He was terrible in his last season because we did with him what we did with holik and nylander anddrury and richards. We tried to lean on him as our number one center, which he wouldnt be now. Hed fill a role that we need filled. Thats all. Really dont know what all the uproar is about. Id rather give up a fourth for him than miller and a second for anything else
- rferrone

If you had him right now, where would you play him? Center? Do you like him at third line center better than Hayes? Or, at fourth line center better than Moore? How does he fit?

You never know what Sather is going to do. It could be nothing. It could be a minor little depth move. Or, it could be a holy crap, where did that come from type move. You just never know.
- Pete V

I agree. I do think on deadline day something realitively minor will happen. I think there is about a 10% chance we will still have two second round picks though at the end of the day.

The Gulitti said that. That LL, Jagr and Jagr's agent have put trade discussion on hold due to the team's better play,
- tomburton99

Devils need to sell. Team has a good goaltender and a decent group of young defensemen, to build on, but their forward core is atrocious and there aren't many prospects on the way either.

I actually watched a little of it. I don't really know why. Perhaps it was because I recently got a new TV and wanted to watch a game in HD, rather than the Caps/Pens and Isles/Canes games in low def. Jagr and Gomez had a 2 on 0. I saw that.

Rangers are going to do something at or before the deadline. They are close but there are needs to be addressed to shore up the roster.

A sixth defenseman and a good depth forward are the obvious needs. I think they will only address one of those issues and pray the other rights itself.

Gomez couldn't even center Hartford's 1st line this year. He's done. The Rangers could use some NHL depth up front Gomez isn't the answer.

They need to trade Schneider for a king's ransom, because he is probably the only player that bring back anything of real significance to use towards a youth rebuild, and let's be honest, what's the point of paying a goalie $6 million for the next 5-6 years or whatever, when you aren't going to be competitive during that time.

They need to do something drastic to rebuild, and I really don't get the point of having a top goaltender lying around that will get paid to miss the playoffs for the next 6 years.

What they need to do is trade everything that isn't nailed down. Jagr, Zidlicky, Ryder etc. Another guy that could get them something is Gelinas. He's still young and has a great shot. a team needing that kind of defenseman would give up something.

If they sell off whatever few tradeable assets they have and draft intelligently, over the next two years, there is no need to deal Schneider away. He is only 28 years old and if they improve their situation, over the next two or thre years, they can be good again.

They have a decent core of young defense: Larsson, Gelinas, Severson and Merrill is a good start.

They need to flip Jagr, Elias and whomever else they can, at the deadline, and deal Cammilieri, Zajac and the few other valuable veteran forwards they can in the offseason.

You have a 4K tv now right? How is it?

The detail in the bestbuy store on those TVs are incredible when you stand up close, but I feel like from a distance, your eyes can't really tell the difference. Also, cable doesn't stream in 4K quality yet and the videos that have looping in the store are special 4K vids.

Do you see them being competitive any time soon just by flipping off their junk for second round picks and drafting well?

Florida is coming.

Buffalo is stocking up on great young players, and will either get McDavid or the consolation prize in Eichel.

The Pens aren't going anywhere.

The Isles are hear to stay.

The Rangers are built to be very competitive for the next several years.

The Lighting are stacked.

The Red Wings are as well.

The Habs are a top team and show no signs of going away.

*******

The Devils are terrible. They suck upfront big time. Their defensive core is o.k., but not great.

They will not be truly competitive at any time during Schneider's contract, just by drafting in the Top 10 every year. To the contrary, what is likely to happen is that by those picks that they are going to make in the next few years, will only start paying dividends once Schneider's contract is approaching completion. So, why not use him as a shot of rebuild adrenaline?

Honestly, there is not a team in the NHL that I would like to be less than the Devils right now.

Bryce Salavador. Man that team is scary, reminds so much of the 2000-2004 Rangers. So many names, so many fading careers.

There isn't a lot of 4K content out there right now. Some stuff on Netflix, but the TV up converts, so it's still a really great picture and future proofing a little.

Schneider was traded for a 9/10 overall pick, Luongo for a 3C and falling goalie prospect, Miller got a mediocre return for Buffalo outside of the 1st round pick but was helped because Ott was included in the deal. Not sure what king's ransom are you expecting with a goalie market that hasnt been very good the past few years

So the little content out there already, is there a noticeable difference when you're sitting 15 feet away?

I heard that the human eye, from the distance, can't see the pixels on a 1080p tv as is, so the human eye physically can't see any upgrade that you get from 4k content. Up close, you can obviously see a huge difference.

Arizona is in rough shape too. While they have a couple quality prospects, they have no money to throw at free agents. The Devils at least have money.

Arizona of course has some attractive rental pieces in Vermette and Michalek this year, and Yandle next year.

There is some truth to that. The common wisdom is that only really makes a big difference on larger screens 60 and higher. Most will tell you that there is no point by a 4K 50 inch TV, but that you can notice a difference in the larger screens.

I notice a pretty big difference, but again not a lot of content right now.

Luongo has one the worst contracts in the league.

Miller was a rental.

I hardly think those are good examples.

But, may the problem is with the term king's ransome. They will get a very healthy return. What do you think a team like Edmonton would give up for him?

Ummmm, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are a disgrace.
