I wonder if they closed it up to honor the founder of it or if he was just so good that no one could run it like him
- TPC

Would you guys pay $2 a year to have that site up and running still? Or a site similar to that with the buyout calculator and armchair GM features?

I'm guilty but we all know they need to play with a consistent 60 minute game

What would it take for JT Miller to be traded to Buffalo? I think Torrey Mitchell is a good fit for the Rangers as a deadline rental player, for what it's worth. I'm not saying he's worth Miller, but maybe he is packaged with a 2nd round pick for JT? Otherwise, if Miller is out of the question, I think the Rangers could get Mitchell at a reasonable cost as he is more valuable as a defensive specialist than many realize. He can play both wing and center and on most nights is pretty good at winning face offs. He looks worse statistically because of the team he is surrounded by, quite frankly. Just as Myers and Stafford have looked much better since joining the Jets.
- djc1877

to me JT is an untouchable. he is looking real good with Hayes and Hags. dont want to mess with that chemistry. the guy i want from Buf would be Stewart.

Stewart(Buf retains some cap) for 2nd, 3rd, Glass(cap), McIlrath or similar F prospect like Haggerty.

Not sure that gets it done but i really dont want to trade our young guys for rentals.

heck yes! TBH, i dont understand why the NHL doesnt have a tab on its own site. just imagine the volume and clicks that would create for its own site. the advertising revenue would be crazy. i get the whole players dont want their salaries out there thing, but guess what, your a professional athlete, everyone already knows how much you make.

Sorry guys. I don't see Zucc as a $6M player. MSL will have to take one heck of a team friendly deal to return.

This being the case what do you guys think of going all in, pull a sign and trade of Zucc, along with Moore,+ for Kessel?

Here's the thought (cap crunching TBD obviously):

Kessel is an upgrade over MSL or Zucc and may be the type of player to put the Rangers over the top this season.

Would you rather have Zucc at $6M or Kessel at $8M?...both are 27 years old

Puts pressure on MSL to take a hefty cut to stay given the cap crunch situation as well as the real possibility of winning another cup (or two if they win this year)

Teams cannot just focus on Nash anymore. No one wants to leave a guy who has scored 30 goals in each of the last 5 full seasons (soon to be 6) running wild against bottom pairing D.

Stepan and Brassard are both playmakers more than scorers. Now each of them can have true scorers in their prime to work with at their side

Kreider, Nash, MSL, Kessel, Stepan, Brassard? That is scary before you even get to Hagelin, Hayes, and Miller who are on fire.

Worst case scenario, thank Kessel in advance for his service this year while we have some LTIR space and trade him at the draft.

- Maskdman3

dont want Kessel on my team. he is soft, not a playoff guy, and streaky... would rather have Zucc. i dont want players like that on this team.

Two weeks ago, if it was being reported that Zucc wanted $5 million a year long term, what would we have said?

I think we need to look at his performance over the course of the entire year, and not let up and down periods influence us too much (not that anything we say makes a difference anyway). But, I do find it incredible that now we're talking in the $5 million a year range. That's a lot of money. Let's see what he does the rest of the year. And, of course, Marty is going to go on a tear soon, which will mean we'll stop talking about him like he is dog crap, and wonder what it will take to re-sign him.

I don't think $5M/yr is very far off from what Zuccarello is worth. My guess is that the term will be the kicker.

last year UFAs were signing for about $100k per point.. so if zucc avgs 51pts per year, he is worth $5M. i think Sather can sign him for $4.5 for 6-7 years. Zucc gets the term, rangers get cap relief. i have no problem signing Zucc to that term as he plays his hearth out and does not seem to be injury prone.

This year, perhaps. Next year or two that team is going to be scary.

Their top 2 centers are 6'6 and 6'3 respectively and Jimmy Hayes is 6'6.

They're going to be a mess to play against very soon.

He may be worth it, but I just wanted to point out that two weeks ago we were ready to send him to Siberia. Now, MSL is done. So, what happens when he goes on a tear now? We just need to say a little more level, IMO, and deal with some of the down swings, myself included.

That is an emerging team. A lot of good young talent. I wonder how much longer the league is going to put up with 1,100 people a night coming to see them?

For sure. They have a stacked young defense and a very competent goaltender as well.

Yep exactly. Zucc had a great year last year. But he hasn't been able to match that consistency yet. I love the player, but is he worth over 5 million per year in a world where the Rangers are always hamstrung by the cap? Tough call. Glad I am not the GM trying to figure it out.

He's on pace for 49 points, 8 points less than last season and we're gonna give a $1.5 million dollar raise? I would go to $4 million and not a cent over, we need to field a team and not just 2 lines

Yeah, but when Duclair and Buchnevich join a line up that could include Fast, Kreider, Hagelin. Miller and Nash those tall guys will be left in the ice dust.

there is no passion there. The arena is full of fans of other teams who live in Florida now who go to the game when their team comes to town.

Also, their slogan is "Chillin with the Cats" which my wife thought was funny when we went, because as people with cats, you know that cats are the laziest creatures on earth and that's a bad slogan for a hockey team.

I like to value players not just by their point production, but whether they play what I consider to be the more important positions -- i.e., who is harder to replace either in free agency or internally. Defensemen are expensive in free agency and harder to replace internally given the development curve. Centers are similar. I put second line wingers significantly down that totem poll, because theoretically, guys like Duclair, Buchenevic, etc. should be able to replace a lot of that production at 1/5 of the price that Zuccarello is now asking for (apparently).

I like Zucc a lot, but do I want to pay him $5 million per long term? Not really.
