Why in the (frank) would we buy out a 50 point two way center who is only 26 years old and signed to a perfectly reasonable $6 million per year?
- BINGO!

that was my point. i dont see why they would do so. he is over paid, but not grossly. again, thus the reason this deal will never happen. only possible Staal brother moving teams any time soon is most likely Eric.(or youngest brother).

would you guys be interested in hodgson if buffalo retains 50% of his cap, he has proven he can play at the hl level and maybe just needs a motivated locker room to get it going again

Eric's cap hit is really insane, I think he is harder to trade

I read somewhere that NYI are possibly going after ROR... i really hope they dont make any moves. we barely beat them last game, i cant imagine if they got ROR... he really would be a great fit for them though, would help their PK alot.

but significantly better than Jordan. Eric at his best is a true #1 center. those are much much harder to find than #2/#3 centers. i agree, hard to move, but he is not getting overpaid by that much. Eric Staal at say $7M or $6.5M would be a great signing.

Eric isn't going anywhere either.

It makes no sense. We're already bad with them (Well, we have a winning record since Jordan Staal came back, but still.) so why get rid of them? Eric has already won a cup. Might as well keep him around to help mentor the next generation of players.

It's what the Canes have done since they moved... Francis handed the Captaincy off to Brinda'mour et al. Then Brind'amour was around to hand the leadership off to the Staal era...

He will stay here and sign an extension at $6 million per for 3 or 4 years, then probably take it a year at a time until he retires.

So basically we have a 1st year center in Hayes who has been doing incredible. Big guy, with great vision, great defensive skills. Only issue is he isn't to good on face offs. So we want to replace this 1st year prototypical center, with a much higher paid, older version.
(frank) you guys, I hate you all.

I like hodgson but his game has gone to crap.... even at $2M it is a gamble. I would take a chance if he was signed for 1-2 years, but too risky otherwise.

I completely agree. i dont want to get any center that can play 3rd line... i want Hayes at 3rd line center. personally think he actualy is playing better than Step and Brass of late. so happy Sather was able to sign him. that IMO made up for the 2nd 1st round pick it cost to get MSL.

Calgary Sun reports #Flames Curtis Glencross has confirmed he's been asked to provide list of teams he would accept a trade to

My only concern with Hayes is that just because he's playing great now doesn't mean he's going to play great in April.

not surprising. i suppose this is CAGs way of making sure they know all their options, even if they dont move him.

really hoping March 2nd is a busy day this year. already took off work(hope its not for nothing...)

Well, Ron Francis says he hopes to be VERY active come trade deadline day, so there's that.

that is a good point. though for all we know, Hayes will play even better in playoffs. look at Brass... that first year he basically tried to take over games in the playoffs. i am just hoping Nash keeps his form in the April...

I think the Rangers will be all over Glencross if this is a place he is willing to come.

And, who am I kidding, everybody wants to be a Ranger

Tell Ron Francis to trade himself to the New York Rangers as a rental. He could play out the season and return to his duties with the Canes thereafter.

GlenS trades for GlenX and says he reminds of him GlenA.
