I look at a team like Calgary, with a fairly small defense and cap room

Don't know if they're willing to come off a pick, but they haven't made the playoffs since 2008 or 2009, so I'd hope so

- AllInForFlyers

True, they have the space. Not sure if Grossmann has a NTC clause (I just assume he does), but if so, I'm not sure he waives to go there.

Then again - playing hockey after April is probably pretty enticing.

I guess I should have made it clear what fine I was referring to.

I meant fine as in ok. Not fine as in fine dining

He's got a limited NTC. I think the biggest hurdle is somebody willing to take on the last year of the contract

People will laugh, but I wouldn't move MDZ for less than a first right now

When you look at the ice time, the assignments, the production, he's playing like a first-rounder, and there's no reason to believe he can't continue

- AllInForFlyers

I am not even entertaining the thought of moving him unless a 1st or solid prospect is coming back.

As someone said before, Calgary has a small D and will be nowhere near the cap ceiling next year. I think they would swap their 3rd rounder for Grossmann abd our 5th.

Janine Niinimaa!! Many didn't like Daniel McGillis but I was fine with him but I still can't help but wonder what Niinimaa could have done here.

I would get Timonen in against Toronto. Toronto isn't very good and we'll need Timonen at his best against New York.

Apart from the hockey talk, we somehow dovetailed into tangential discussions of the merits of Metallica vs. Megadeth, the Swedish rock band Candlemass

Dark are the Veils of Death!
I remember Niinimaa wearing a Thor's hammer necklace onstage with Metallica in the parking lot of the FU Center.

Works for me

Honestly, I'd rather have Morin making the occasional rookie mistake and learning on the job, than watching another season of Grossmann/Schenn plodding along and handling the puck like a grenade.

I'd love that, but I don't see the Flames making that deal. They're not a lock to make the playoffs and there is no way they risk a lottery pick for Coburn

Nice deal for the Flyers and Schultz. Very solid move. If the compensation numbers for RFA haven't changed I can't see anyone offering over 3.365 million because that nets a 1st and 3rd. Would love to deal Kimmo and one more Dman for some picks. I'd keep Del Zotto.

Haha!

Maybe, if we had our 2nd, we could have packaged it with Coburn for Calgary's 1st. Instead we have AMac....at a 5 million cap hit....for 5 more (frank)ing years.

Oh joy

I would be happy if Hexy could just get rid of
Luke
Grossmann
And Coburn ( 1st)

Leaves lots of cap space!
