Well the Nashville Smoke and Mirrors smoked the sharks tonight 5-1 and 15-3-3 since Jan 1. And have won 6 in a row only giving up 9 goals.
These guys are the real deal...minimal playoff experience? Yep! No real studs on the forward line? Yep! But all they do is win! - bogiedoc
The Canucks used to tear up the regular season too with their great special teams and goaltending .
The Preds do not have enough up front .
Where is LBR ? How many goals are they getting from their D men ? A lot right ?

Q's presser today when asked about where the Hawks are at:
1. We like our team
2. All areas we have depth
3. Balance and scoring on all our lines.
4. Deeper goaltending.
But we need to better..... |

Just for perspective sake, re: "don't trade away the future", 12 years of the future:
1998 Mark Bell 8th overall OK 3rd line player
1999 Steve McCarthy 23rd overall 55 points in 302 NHL games
2000 Mikhail Yakubov 10th overall 40 NHL games BUST
2000 Pavel Vorobiev 11th overall 57 NHL games BUST
2001 Tuomo Ruutu 9th overall OK top 6 forward
2001 Adam Munro 29th overall 17 NHL games BUST
2002 Anton Babchuk 21st overall OK 4-5 defenseman
2003 Brent Seabrook 14th overall NHL All Star HIT
2004 Cam Barker 3rd overall fringe NHL player BUST
2005 Jack Skille 7th overall 4th line journeyman BUST
2006 Jonathan Toews 3rd overall Franchise player HIT
2007 Patrick Kane 1st overall Elite player HIT
2008 Kyle Beach 11th overall 0 NHL games BUST
2009 Dylan Olsen 28th overall In AHL, fringe NHLer BUST?
2010 Kevin Hayes 24th overall Rangers, decent rookie yr HIT - John Jaeckel
The list above is why given the chance almost every GM in the NHL would sacrifice a prospect or two to win a Cup.
The question isn't if to make the sacrifice but when.

Eh, the timing of a Sharp trade either now or in the off-season will have no impact on signing Seabrook.
It's really simple imo. Moving Sharp in-season is not going to return his value/what CHI needs now. The teams that need Sharp now also need what CHI needs (a defenseman, maybe a center). The bottom-feeder teams that have the assets CHI needs do not need Sharp right now. And please do not counter with Eller-Emelin; one is bigger but less physical than our current 3C and the other is physical but slow and just really not good. - L_B_R
Most people look for equal value in a trade with their favorite team....That's not the case here.
If Sharp is dealt it won't be for 1 or 2 or 3 players equally his value. It will be for hopes and dreams as in picks/prospects otherwise the math doesn't work. This will be a salary dump trade and when your looking at return see the package that was sent here in the Campbell and Leddy trades. |

that would be unrealistic to say the least.
Campbell was a pure salary dump. As far as Leddy goes, I am not sure what people expected for a 6th D who didn't progress far enough to not be benched in the playoffs. People can point to his age all they want but the fact remains he had almost 300 games of NHL experience and should have progressed far enough to be able to play minimal minutes in big games. Well, we saw what happened when he had to play. It wasn't pretty.
For all the praise he gets his pace has fallen since the middle of December and he is on the 1st pair for the worse defensiive team in the league. |

Leddy was a salary dump no matter what you think of him and the same with Campbell.
My point remains the same...Sharp isn't going to be traded for a roster player near his value.

Which is why it makes no sense to trade him until the summer, if at all. |
