Also I seem to remember Read saying something about seeing the ice better as RW, but he's seemed to work fine on LW side with Coots and Simmer at RW, right? - mcefalu
Yeah. I don't get it. When I played, I played both wings and sometimes was used on D. Granted, it was nowhere near the level of the NHL and going from wing to D was always an adjustment, but switching wings was never a big deal. Sure when you play the off wing you're on your backhand a bit more, but other than that, I never really felt any difference.

Lightening are looking for defense and possible PP quarterback. Kimmo could be a help for them. Also Coburn(not the PP part). TB has 2 first rounders and some decent prospects. Could they maybe get a slater Koekkoek or namestnikov or Erne? I don't know. Probably not but I would be hitting up these playoff teams because they will want to sure up the d for playoffs. Anaheim lost Beleksy and Vatenen. How about Coburn and B.Schenn for a first and Shea Theodore or Etem or Karlsson or Ritchie.
Not sure if it can happen but I think some of these playoff teams might get desperate - J35Bacher
Tampa doesn't have a ton of cap room so I don't know how realistic Coburn would be without us taking back a roster player. Not much interest in Koekkoek. He's too similar to LSchenn from what I've seen. Namestnikov probably not likely as they don't have much depth at Center in their system.
I'd either be putting a huge package together for Drouin or I'd be looking at their picks. Maybe they put Vasilevsky on the block for D help but I kind of doubt it.

The NHL game is infinitely faster, as well as the talent level and ability, so it makes sense to me. Wayne Simmonds also struggled when moved to the left side.

You could be right.
My main thing is looking at some of these playoff teams who need to shore up d and try to get all I can. LA could use d. I just look back at how teams get desperate at the deadline and when push comes to shove sometimes they make desperate deals.
Flyers schedule before the deadline: Blue Jackets, Sabres, Predators, Capitals, Hurricanes, Leafs, and Rangers
Bruins schedule before the deadline: Oilers, Blues, Blackhawks, Canucks, Devils, Coyotes
The Bruins will probably get at least 6 pts since the Oilers, Devils, and Coyotes are beyond putrid but the other 3 games are tough ones. The flyers on the other hand only have 2 tough games against the Rangers and Predator. If they can't close to 4 pts on less by the deadline, they need to sell.

Idk what level you played at, but I know for me, it was rough the past 4 years in college. High school and travel hockey I could play either wing no problem. In college, it took me almost 3 seasons to get comfortable playing LW, which I actually preferred (I'm a righty).
I use to play a lot of D before college too; that didn't last long at all. It obviously depends on the player, but I noticed huge differences as the speed of the game was ramped up. Probably very similar to how some guys can score bundles in the AHL, but in the NHL they're bottom six guys. It's all about the pace of the game. Some can adjust as they move up, others hit a wall.
Man, I hope not. Heck, I'll take Corpseburger over Rinaldo - BiggE
No doubt. At least Umberger will occasionally score a goal by accident and won't take a mind numbing penalty that just drains your will to watch the Flyers.

I never got past north American junior, but I hear ya. It is funny how some players, at the pro level, have no prob whatsoever switching wings and others really struggle with it.

Slater Koekkoek is nothing like Luke Schenn, completely different kind of player. I'd be stoked if the Flyers got a 2nd and him for Coburn. Namestnikov is also very intriguing.
If we call about Vasilevsky or Drouin, Yzerman probably hangs up. Those two aren't going anywhere.

Biggest thing for me was timing. That extra second you may need to cradle a pass in your own zone on your back hand on the off wing needs to be more like a half or quarter of a second. It's not an easy adjustment, especially when your playing against really good teams.
The combo of coburn, grossman, and l schenn all dressing for this team is just not a good idea. The speed that Columbus brings on the forecheck isn't good for that group.
If Amac is sitting. I really am wondering if it is berubes decision or not
This is way more of a head scratcher than MDZ earlier in the year
Schultz, Grossman, Coburn have a decent shot of getting moved.
Read and Schenn I doubt it. If they go, we're involved in a pretty significant deal. - mochoson
Yeah are probably right. Read and Schenn seem like draft moves if a move is to be made. I hope 2 or 3 of the D-men get moved but I think Schultz will ultimately be the only one who does.

Almost have to think they are showcasing guys before the deadline.
If we havent had a real "must win" game yet this season, then this is it. A loss tonight would cut our playoff chances nearly in half. A win would help us pretty substantially.

That's the only thing I can think of. I guess we all know where Hexy priorities are and I love it. I just think they will go back to looking like crap cause it's a bad mix.
