No way Kings trade him during season. If they weren't in playoff race then I can see it it possibly happening..... But if he were to be traded id expect a pretty good return just because he has the rediculous playoff history of being so clutch. If it were me I'd ask for a 1st, good prospect, and a top 9 roster player. I'd be shocked if Kings traded him though. I can definitely see him traded at the draft if tg Kings know they can't re sign him

You're not going to get a "good" prospect, a roster player, AND a 1st round pick for a rental, unless there is something else going back the other way along with Williams. We've all heard how there is a premium right now being paid for defensemen, and Toronto only got a 1st rounder and a meh prospect (Jokinen and Santorelli were just a rental swap...if anything, Santorelli is an upgrade over Jokinen). Regardless of how "clutch" JW may be in the playoffs, no team is going to give up more than Nashville gave for Franson for him.
With the Kings current situation, if they are still in the playoff hunt and are convinced that they won't be able to resign Justin Williams, I can see them doing a rental swap for a top 4 defenseman -- Paul Martin from Pittsburgh maybe -- as the Kings need to shore up the blue line more than they need secondary scoring. If they prefer to go in the future assets direction, I can see them pulling in a 2nd/3rd round pick and an ok prospect, or straight up for a 1st round pick (keeping in mind that any team that is going to want JW as a rental is likely going to be in the latter half of the first round). Anything more than that is a textbook overvaluing of your own assets.
All that being said, if there is any chance that Lombardi thinks that he will be able to resign Williams, I don't think he goes anywhere.
