Is Fausching all that good? I ask because I wasn't all that impressed with him in the WJC this year but 4 games hardly makes or breaks a player? For those who have seen him, who's his game like?
- BigStew

Honestly, I dont know what you were watching to not be impressed. Him and Larkin were easily the USA two best players. He received team USA tournament player honors (1 of 3 players) for the 2nd year in a row.

He is a big power forward that plays a strong possession game along the boards. Skates well for a big guy. I think his game reminds me of JVR if he can find a scoring touch at the next level. Both were drafted prior to leaving for college and both had good freshman seasons. JVR did well in his second post draft season where Fasching has somewhat struggled to put points on the board (same story with Compher).

The thing is we got a guy that still probably hasn't hit his ceiling yet, but is much more NHL ready than anyone they shipped out. If you were fine with this rebuild taking another 3 or 4 years, I guess it was a dumb trade. But Murray is trying to speed the process up, and because of the amount of $$ he has to play with (aka the # of prospects we have), he made a move to do so. He has said all along that this was the plan. Take the huge amount of resources that he's been given, and try to turn this ship around.
- HonkFortheGoose

Spot on. This does speed up the rebuild, which he said he wanted to do.

It's three full days later and you're still saying pretty much the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

You made your point at one of the first five overs.

Can we move on?

For some reason I just expected more from him but not knowing what his strengths are probably lessened my opinion of him.
- BigStew

He's also a really level headed kid. Didn't have the easiest childhood so he's very grounded. He's very family oriented and he's said everything he does is to try and help his family out. I'm kind of curious if he leaves school after this year or goes back for at least 1 more. I believe this is only his sophomore year and it seems most guys stay through their junior year, but his family situation may dictate that.

There seems to be an overall attitude by too many that the most important thing is to be right in their given opinion and to make sure that specific opinion is repeated roughly 474 times instead of just stating your thoughts and moving on, letting things play out before beating that horse until it's dead several times over.

I'm hesitantly pleased for the trade, with all the obvious downsides already well noted.

Why keep saying the same potential negatives over and over again, other than to be able to say you're right? Let it go until next season.

I'm so much more pumped for next season now. This roster is going to be vastly different. They may just be entertaining to watch again!

Ignore it then. I ignore far more silly opinions on this site than I respond to.

This. This is why I like the trade.

Yes, I'm sad to see some of the guys that I was excited we had, but at the same time, status quo needed to go.

I know different isn't always better, but at this point, it can't be worse than what we've already seen.

I'm with ya Goose! I'm excited the diretion the team is going. Murray is slowly building a physical nasty team to play against. Can only go up from rock bottom.

I'm hoping Petersen is in net again for ND tonight. I get the feeling he probably won't be though. I enjoyed watching him play last night.

No we dont. Who projects to be a top 6 winger now?

We traded the two best goal scoring wing prospects we had for a guy whos attitude problems have disappeared over the last 72 hours

- sbroads24

What do you mean two best scoring wing prospects? Lemieux doesn't count. He wouldn't sign here anyways, which is why he got traded. But you knew that. Armia has had too many concussions. Two good reasons to trade them.

I just remember thinking (and more than once) that he could have went into space better and support without the puck better. I remember shaking my head a few times. I like his work ethic but thought he could have been smarter. I guess my expectation were to high.

I'm not trying to start anymore problems here but what some should remember is, Murray seen Armia as an asset and not part of the future. I know some don't believe me but that's what I was told, I asked about Armia because so many folks on here speak highly of him. Myers is gone and we need to let it go, Murray wanted a young goal scoring winger and if he moved Myers it would be for that only, we got Bogosian back also so to me we made out in the deal. The Lemuiex talk is maybe or maybe not he would have signed here but Kane will be a very good player as will Bogosian IMO.
