Jays looking to get Papelbon from the Phillies to be the closer
- homiedclown

It makes sense except for the fact that it makes absolutely no sense (yea i said it)

They could use a closer except at 12 million dollars you may as well just commit extra years to adding a guy like Shields.

Even if you move Navarro in the deal they'd still be well over the budget they claimed they were operating at. So either it's bigger than just papelbon or its nothing.

Yea it's not like we traded away two blue chip prospects. Armia was doing ok in the AHL he was not lighting it up. Lemiuex reportedly was not even going to sign here. People get way to attached to propects.
- Cheeseballin

Armia was better than ok. He was excellent for them. Better than Grigorenko.

Also, was Kane great for WPG ? Was Bogosian? We got two question marks

"Besides a birth year, here’s something else Bogosion and Myers have in common: an inability to think the game quickly enough in the defensive zone. This recent Bogosian (44) shift with Toby Enstrom (39)typifies, I think, the difference between a good, puck-moving No. 3 defenseman and Bogosian. He throws two needless body checks against players who no longer have the puck, as if the point of hockey is to amass hits, while Enstrom skates into position, forces an interception, and initiates a zone exit:"

The notion we got a more consistent player is false.

I would have preferred to keep Enroth over Neuvirth, but I can see why Dallas wanted Enroth. History with the coach, Neuvirth's constant injury struggle, etc.

Maybe Enroth comes back in the offseason. Always a possibility I suppose.

I'm not thrilled about the deal as I don't think anyone else was going to give up we did to get Kane but I wasn't sold on what we gave up other than Myers and the 1st.

I'd like Enroth to come back before anyone else that was mentioned earlier.

I watch a TON of Amerks games. Armia was alright. A good prospect but he is no blue chip can't miss guy. We gave up a ? in Myers too. We got 2 NHL players for 1. Good deal IMO

you can spin a stat anyway you want

how many pp goals were scored against the sabres with myers in the box vs bogo in the box

what is the breakout pass % of each?

who sets up more quality shots?

who comes out of the corner more often with a loose puck?

you can spin a stat or a story to make any casual fan to believe you are right 9 times out of 10

Good deal for WPG. There is a reason they didnt wait on moving Kane to the deadline or draft. They got an offer they couldnt refuse

Read the article. Bogo doesnt think the game well either. This notion we got a better defensemen in his own end is not true

He posted a picture after the trade that said he calls himself a Buffalonian. So it's a possibility I guess. For all we know, Murray had a talk with him before the trade and let him know he's welcome back. Moulson came back last summer, so it's not like it couldn't happen.

You can also do the same with trades, which is precisely what's gone on the past few days here.

The 180 turns on players that were moved in this deal (on both sides) has been fun to watch.

Bogo for Myers is a wash at this point. Both players never lived up to expectations for their teams. Are you saying you wouldn't have given up Stafford, Armia, Blues 1st, and Sabres 2nd rounder for Kane last summer? Thats great deal for a 1st line winger!
