I understand what your concern would be but.... Nail Yakupov coming to MTL? Am I the only one that sees the jackpot there. You got Markov and Gonchar - both seasoned vets and his countrymen that can mentor him and bring him long. This guy isn't a bust. He's a highly touted - high flying winger that's thrown on a team that was a mess - and that's not a shot at the Oilers.

So you bring him to MTL you shield him a little because you have Patchs and Plecs and the offence isn't all on him but more importantly you have leadership there. Hall is out now and Yakupov is going to be needed even more. You put Yaks on MTL with Subban on defense. Their PP alone would be terrifying. Adding Petry makes them more solidified behind Subban

It's easy to sit there and say he will do this or he will do that but the fact is that he is a complete unknown. Yes he may one day put it together and be dominant and live up to that 1st Overall pick but in 2.5 seasons he has not. You can blame it on a pathetic Oilers system, lack of veterans, lack of whatever but the fact is that he hasn't lived up to expectations and thus far he has proved nothing.

So when you are a team who is slowly re-stocking the cupboard with prospects, why take a chance on a guy who nobody knows what he'll be in the NHL when you're organizing cannot afford a hit like that.

He has 16 points this season averaging 14 minutes a game and has a total of 5 PPP. These are not exactly breaking the bank numbers despite playing 2 mins a game on the PP. And no not saying Sekac will be better but Sekac is playing 3rd and 4th line minutes plying about 30 secs a game on the PP and he put up the very same number of points.

Finally the friendship thing is all said and good but PK and Tavares were best friends, Jagr and Plekanec are best friends, yet this doesn't come to fruition. Galchenyuk played basically 1 season with Yakupov and yes they keep in touch, but 1 season in junior hardly makes for a chemistry in the NHL.

But the 2 best hockey insiders have said, no going to happen. MB is not interested so why is this even being discussed?

I really dont think this guy has ever been correct. I mean one of the biggest hockey trades in a long time just went down with a ton of players moved and not a peep out of him. He knows nothing at all and should be jailed for taking peoples money to be a member. Just so i can see his fake rumor chart.

First on Yandle, I agree. He ain't being moved for a pending UFA. Makes no sense.

I agree on Yak staying put too. Edmonton's GMs have yet to make a ballsy move when it comes to the big names on the roster. It's all just talk. Until otherwise, its status quo. Besides, they spent a number 1 overall pick on him not too long ago. The last thing they want to do is admit failure; trade him for 20 cents on the dollar because his value isn't high and shouldn't be perceived as high either regardless of the potential.

Unless the re-sign him Petry will soon be formerly their best overall d-man. Not that you don't already know this but I'm not sure why it matters if he is or isn't their best overall d-man b/c either he has an extension coming or Oilers better deal him. There is no in between or gray area
