In other news...The Sharks blog writer is being a bit proactive in helping Hannan leave the org as hastily as possible for Pitt. Boy does that make me cringe.

How come Wilson only ever speaks of even strength save %? Is short handed save % not important or is it that MAF ranks second in league starters and that would water down his argument?

MAF and Greiss are not equals.

so (frank)ing tired of hearing people say things like this..

"I agree with you on Sutter, but asking him to be stable when never giving him consistent wingers is an issue."

I feel like making a farfetched trade idea.
Sutter+Harrington+Bennett+ 2016 2nd for JvR+depth player

- YouMeAndDupuis9

I do love JVR especially at his cap and he would be a type of guy I would be okay with shipping the 2nd for. He's a left wing which leaves a whole on on the 3c unless we can grab Santa/Winnik in that deal. Harrington can be top 4 and he used to be Maattas partner. Imagine the chemistry, could be a GREAT pairing while still being cheap for a few more years. Bennett, still think he can improve a little. Same with Sutter (I hope) but more than likely they get ruined in TOR. On the fence with this deal if the depth guy could be santa/winnik. This will make our top 2 lines great, but Kunitz/Comeau would be the odd man out in top 6. As much as I like Dumoulin I kinda feel like I would rather ship him instead due to the potential 3-6 pairing.

How much of the game is played at even strength compared to pk?

Just saw on twitter that the Habs may be shopping Lars Eller. He would probably be too expensive for the Pens, but he would be a huge upgrade as the Pens 3rd line C

I don't know, isn't he just as soft as Sutter?

Pretty sure the chemical compound of Blackhole Sutter is the softest material known to man. Eller would be a much better than average 3C.

I don't want to speak for Toronto as they have done some stupid stuff over the years, but no way I'm making that trade if I'm them.

JVR is a really solid player with a great contract, and the Pens side of the deal is a struggling 3rd line center, an ok young player with some big question marks in Bennett, and decent prospect, and a late 2nd round pick.

- rival22

You're probably right. Just trying to take advantage of the whole fire sale thing. It would probably need rearranged so that one of Pouliot or Kapanen are in the deal but Sutter or someone with salary needs to go the other way.

JvR, Perron, and Hornqvist would be 3 outstanding top 6 wingers on good contracts. Getting Santa or Winnik in the deal would be well worth it.

All that said, even Toronto is probably smart enough to hang on to him.

JVR would be a great add, but right now, he is not needed.

Eller would be a nice average 3rd line Center....which is an upgrade from Sutter.

Yes and no. I sound like a blockbuster trade troll here....but pushing down Kunitz or Comeau to the bottom 6 would serve as our "bottom 6 upgrade". And losing Sutter is a win no matter what lol.

But yes, our top 2 lines seem to be clicking, so he's not really needed.

So, what do we trade? Can we make this like the Goc trade and just Sutter for Eller straight up?

It's almost as if Sutter's dad had an affair on a business trip to Sweden 23 or so years ago.

I would probably trade them straight up in the hopes that a change of scenery would benefit him but I wouldn't add anything else.

The good thing ... we don't have Shero in command. I'd like to think JR has more common sense.

Agreed. Although Eller has 3 (or 4) more years at 3.5

Bergevin doesn't seem to value analytics all that much in his decision making so perhaps he could overvalue Sutter. Trouble is, I'm not convinced Rutherford or Johnston would view Eller as an upgrade.

Only problem with that is the Habs are looking to move him because De La Rose is ready to step up and take over for Eller. They wouldn't want Sutter coming back.
