I was in the minority when I said Richards wouldn't be claimed. The general opinion (assuming you are right) doesn't bother me.

Luongo's issue was term and recapture penalty. Kessel doesn't have the latter, although the yearly price is staggering. What makes him untradeable is length and the fact he is on the books for 8 mill next year when so many teams are 1) rebuilding or 2) trying to get under the cap. I bet only 2 or 3 teams can take him on without the Leafs taking back salary. If they do take back salary it is a different conversation.

I think people are arguing that Kane is better or that Kessel isn't good. I am merely pointing out that he won't cost nearly as much as people think because of the contract. I'd take Kessel under the right circumstances.

Neither is Myers.
